The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI reorganized by the decree of the Council of Minister’s Regulation No. 530/2023 with the objectives of conducting biomedical, clinical trial and bioequivalence research, promoting and strengthening local production of pharmaceutical products and research capacity building under the Federal Ministry of Health. AHRI, over its 50 years in service, is well known for its hub function for skill and technology transfer and partnership embracing research agendas with direct impact in the development and transformation of population in Ethiopia.

Required position: Researcher II (Researcher physician, MD+ MSc/PhD in Pharmacology)

Department: Clinical Trials Directorate

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Develop, conduct and lead clinical trial projects Lead and/or serve as study physician in the implementation of an ongoing research project through handling clinical activities including screening and enrolment of research participants.

·         Participate and/or lead in problem identification for research, research designing, research protocol development, data collection, analysis, interpretation and report writing.

·         Lead and provide medical care to study participants as necessary

·         Writing grants independently and/or in collaboration with other senior researchers in the respective Directorate

·         Cooperate in ensuring quality control activities in the conduct of trials.

·         Representing the directorate/institute in any scientific platforms when applicable

·         Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the director and/or the principal investigator.

Job Requirements

Specifications for the Position:

Qualification, Experiences and Essential Skills

- MD plus PhD or MSc in Clinical Pharmacology minimum 6 years of clinical experience as internist; plus

- Experience in clinical research and scientific paper writing with at least two publication points (at least one publication as first author) is mandatory.

- Experience in clinical trial as Principal Investigator or co-investigator is an advantage
