The main purpose of the Position

Performing and controlling the bank management, overseeing and preparing the bank books in accordance with the Finance and Accounting Manager's instructions and MSF protocols, standards, and procedures in order to provide accurate, reliable, and updated financial information.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performing and controlling the daily bank management (payments via bank transfer and check) and ensuring that all receipts and documentation meet MSF requirements (procedures, deadlines, information, signatures ...). 

  • Preparing check payments for coordination and bank transfers and monthly salary payments for coordination and/or projects.

  • Perform the monthly bank reconciliations for coordination of bank accounts.

  • Prepare all the tax-related documents for capital and do the timely payment of the taxes of all projects.

  • Ensuring a monthly account report for coordination of bank accounts in accordance with MSF procedures, checking individual entries, and preparing the necessary administrative documents (originals) as a basis for justification and explanation of payments and receipts made.

  • Being responsible for the processing of accounting software peripheral accounting (coordination) in Unified (direct encoding or Excel importation) and encoding correctly and completing all the transactions related to the bank including checking the quality of the mission accounting allocations and their conformity (checking invoices and their allocations). 

  • Being responsible for filing accounting documents of each bank journal and fill in all information for the financial stamp (Book, Month, Date, Entry nr. Project, Accounting code, Amount, Currency).

  • Provide support to the Accountancy Manager (ACMA) as needed.

  • Performing field visits in the projects in order to support and train financial staff. Filling in gaps in the projects in case of a shortage of HR in the Finance Department and give support for the start-up of new (emergency) projects.

  • In the absence of a cashier take over the cash box management on a temporary base.

  • Informing supervisors of any issues/problems that may arise in their job performance.

Job Requirements

Required qualifications and professional experience

Education: Desirable University degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.

Experience: Essential previous working experience of at least two years in relevant jobs. Desirable experience in MSF or other NGOs

Languages: Good command of English and local language, both written and spoken.

Knowledge:

  •  Excellent computer skills (word, excel, internet)

  •  Local accounting standards, desirable MSF accounting software, ERP   system knowledge, and local laws.
