Job Description

The purpose of the job for a kitchen supervisor is to manage kitchen staff; ensuring food preparation meets quality and safety standards. To develop menus, order supplies, control portion costs and manage food costs. Supervisors monitor employee performance, schedule shifts and evaluate staff. They maintain clean and organized food preparation areas, store food properly, and follow food handling regulations. They maintain inventory and ensure daily operations run smoothly.

Duties

  • A kitchen supervisor is in charge of overseeing the kitchen employees and making sure that every dish is cooked to the greatest possible standards and safety.

  • They create meals, order supplies, keep an eye on the work of all kitchen employees, and oversee food expenses.

  • Supervisors of kitchen operations keep an eye on staff performance and offer constructive criticism to assist them advance their careers.

  • Assess the state of the equipment and place orders for supplies as necessary.

  • Create new menu items and dishes that are suitable for the children,

  • They collaborate with management staffs to bring organizational objectives.

  • Ensure that every space used for preparing meals is always hygienic and well-organized (they make sure that food is handled carefully to avoid food-borne diseases and that it is kept correctly to avoid contamination or spoiling).

  • Make sure that there is adequate food on hand for everyday organization operations.

  • Kitchen supervisors keep an inventory of every item kept in the pantry or fridge.

  • Supervise the day to day activities of the food service.

Job Requirements

  • A qualified Diploma or Degree in Food sciences, Nutrition, Hotel and tourism or other relevant fields.

  • A minimum of 2 year of working experience in the field.
