Position: Junior Researcher (Nursing or Public Health)

Terms and conditions:

·         Six Months contract with possible extension based on performance and budget availability.

·         Salary: 10,386.00

The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI reorganized by the decree of the Council of Minister’s Regulation No. 376/2016 as biomedical research, clinical trial and research capacity building under the Federal Ministry of Health. AHRI, over its 50 years in service, is well known for its hub function for skill and technology transfer and partnership embracing research agendas with direct impact in the development and transformation of population in Ethiopia and beyond.

The Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (MNTD) is one of Research Division under CNCDR Directorate and has secured grant from (NIHR) National Institute for Health and Care Research mutual agreement with partners of AAU, LSHTM & AHRI (Armauer Hansen Research Institute) and has been implementing study project of SHARP (Skin Health Africa Research Program): Therefore, the MNTD Division is looking for self-driven, motivated, innovative and energetic researchers to join our team as Junior Researchers. 

Job Requirements

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

§  Possess a BSc degree or higher in health sciences (Nursing and Public Health) with a minimum of 2 years.

§  Prior experience in surveys or surveys related to the field is considered an asset.

§  Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team setting.

§  Have expertise and training in both quantitative and qualitative data collection methodologies.

§  Willingness and ability to travel to various parts of the data collection sites.

§  Professionals in and around Dessie and the surrounding areas will give precedence.

Duties and responsibilities

      Execute essential survey activities, including coordination, ensuring data quality, conducting data cleaning, and reporting findings.

      Maintain and monitor the data collection process, making adjustments to the system to align with operational needs while providing ongoing support.

      Conduct data collection from the designated health facilities.

      Ensure that proper handling data and documentation

      Assist in the collection, processing, and storage of data.

      Assist physicians and study coordinators as per given directions

Other Competencies

·         Fluency in English Language

·         Experience on ODK, RedCap, and Macro is an added advantage

·         Excellent interpersonal skill

·         Willingness to be multi-tasked and take up out of office tasks
