Job Description

The overall purpose of this position is to provide technical leadership for implementation of the World Vision global campaign entitled “ENOUGH: Ending Child Hunger and Malnutrition” by contextualising it to the operational and practical realities in Ethiopia. The position holder will work closely with Advocacy and external Engagement Associate Director of World Vision Ethiopia. S/he is expected to lead in planning the entire campaign activities, mobilising partners, execution of the campaign plans and partners engagements at all levels, capacity building for World Vision Ethiopia staff and partners, monitoring impacts of engagements at practical and policy levels, documentation of progresses against plans and learning from national and operational levels engagements with pertinent partners; and sharing key lessons with the wider partnership by working closely with Communications Department at NO, Hub levels, and East Africa Regional Office.

The incumbent is expected to lead the process of mainstreaming the theme of campaign across all WVE programs and projects irrespective of source of funding; provides technical support and capacity building to all WVE staff in designing, planning and implementing the campaign through all programs. S/he follows up and monitors progress of planned activities by all concerned and facilitate review and evaluations of progress made over the course of the campaign lifetime

Planning and Execution

  • Lead in planning and execution of ENOUGH campaign in Ethiopia by working closely with Advocacy and External Engagement Associate Director, Communications Team, and East Africa Regional Office and building partnership with concerned government offices and non-governmental organisations

  • Work closely with all technical teams across sectors at the NO level to align the ENOUGH campaign themes with all Technical Program (TPs) and sectors;

  • Work closely with special attention to ILaNS, Health, and HEA Technical teams in terms of joint planning, monitoring, reporting, exchanging up to date information, creating/joining networks and collaborations and well position WVE as a thought-leader in the area

  • Engage and work with Vision Fund Micro Finance and other private sector institutions to strengthen partnership towards addressing child hunger and malnutrition

  • Work closely with monitoring, evaluation, learning and accountability (MEAL) team and to establish clear and standard monitoring, learning and evaluation systems for ENOUGH;

  • Conduct capacity assessments, training, technical capacity building plan and monitoring for AP staff and partners together with Technical Program Managers, Hub Leads and Area Program Managers to ensure staff are equipped with ENOUGH campaign requirements;

  • Promote Child Safe Organizational practices and contribute to the enhancement of technical models and resource/tools for ENOUGH campaign implementation;

  • Work with Resource Development team to acquire funding support for ENOUGH;

  • Work with media outlets to promote ENOUGH;

  • Work and collaborate with regional and international NGOs and other entities with a view of creating partnerships towards ending child hunger and malnutrition;

  • Work closely with the government of Ethiopia relevant ministries and functions including Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health, Seqota Declaration, Nutrition Coordination Office, and others;

  • Ensure ENOUGH is mainstreamed with all technical programs and projects;

  • Prepare and submit periodic and non-periodic reports, monitor campaign progress, and work with consultants during evaluations and analysis works;

  • Lead in mobilising faith and community leaders, child clubs, child parliament, local NGOs, government affiliated associations and other partners for the purpose of addressing child hunger and malnutrition;

Networking, coordination and collaboration

  • Provide basic and progress update for periodic internal coordination meetings with WVE’s SLT, Hub Leads, and AP Managers to review the progress of ENOUGH,

  • Represent WVE in external consultative meetings and forums with government stakeholders, CSOs, NGOs and community leaders in subjects related to ENOUGH,

Job Requirements

Qualifications:  Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, law, social work, psychology, sociology or related fields with minimum of five years’ experience or Bachelor degree in the similar fields with at least ten years’ experience;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as policy advocacy experience; Knowledge and proven experience in addressing child hunger and malnutrition issues in Ethiopia; 

  • Experience in campaign design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and report writing, and proposal writing Experience in the area of food and nutrition working with government and partners Experience in campaign and policy advocacy in the area of food and nutrition Experience in policy analysis Competent in written and verbal English communication; Strong computer literacy (including MS Word, Excel, PPT, internet and Email usage)

  • Experience in handling campaign related dynamics /challenges, changes, demands/, and decision is highly appreciated.
