POSITION SUMMARY: The Population Council Ethiopia office is looking for a Research Officer to support on qualitative and quantitative data entry and analysis activities. Applicants will have experience in mixed method research with essential data entry and analysis skills predominantly in qualitative datasets.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Research Officer, under the Research Manager, will be responsible to take data entry and analysis assignments for a mixed method research on begging among people with disabilities in Ethiopia. The role will include, but not limited to:

1.      Enter qualitative data into NVivo, proofread verbatim transcripts and crosscheck accuracy against audio-recordings.

2.      Conduct inductive/deductive coding using NVivo.

3.      Collaborate with the research team to ensure overall data quality (data will be double coded and intercoder variability will be checked)

4.       Cleaning and entry of quantitative data into SPSS and assist on descriptive analysis.

5.      Support on other related activities as assigned by the Research Manager. 

Job Requirements

Applicants with the following trainings and experiences are encouraged to apply.

1.        Master’s degree in Anthropology, sociology, special need education, public health or related field,

2.      Demonstrated experience of mixed method research methods.

3.      Previous experience in use of data analysis tools (e.g., NVivo for qualitative and SPSS for quantitative component) will be advantageous.

4.      Excellent oral and written communications skills in English is need.
