Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Population Council Ethiopia office is looking for interviewers for its mixed method research focusing on begging among persons with disabilities in Ethiopia. Applicants will have experience in mixed method research, transcription/translation skills, and essential data entry and analysis skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1.    Contribute to the recruitment of eligible participants for the study.

2.    Participate in training and orientation sessions before data collection.

3.    Organize, plan, and conduct in-depth interviews and investigator-administered surveys.

4.    Engage in quality assurance activities.

5.    Conduct high quality transcription/translation.

6.    Support the analysis and interpretation of findings.

7.    Undertake other activities and responsibilities related to the study as assigned by the research team.

Job Requirements

Applicants with the following qualifications and experiences are encouraged to apply.

1.    Master’s degree in anthropology, sociology, special needs education, public health, or other related fields (applicants with disabilities can be considered eligible if they have bachelor’s degree with adequate research experience)

2.    Experience in qualitative research, in-depth interviews, and transcription/translation.

3.    Experience in conducting large-scale surveys.

4.    Applicants who are familiar with the local contexts of study sites will get priority.

5.    Women with disabilities who fulfill the requirement are encouraged to apply.

6.    Proficiency in local languages will be highly desirable (e.g., Amharic, Tigrigna, Afaan Oromo, Somaligna, etc). Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are needed.

7.    Applicants should be residents of the study locations (Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa & Mekelle)
