Job Specifications: 

Legal Department Leadership:

  • Lead and oversee the legal department's operations and activities.

  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to the legal team.

Legal Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement legal strategies aligned with organizational goals.

  • Ensure legal strategies support business continuity and growth.

Contract Management:

  • Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts and legal agreements.

  • Ensure contracts comply with legal standards and mitigate risks.

Risk Assessment:

  • Identify and assess legal risks associated with business operations.

  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.

Litigation Management:

  • Manage and oversee legal disputes and litigation.

  • Collaborate with external legal counsel when necessary.

Corporate Governance:

  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance principles.

  • Advise executive leadership and board of directors on legal matters.

Compliance Programs:

  • Develop and implement compliance programs to ensure adherence to laws and regulations.

  • Conduct regular compliance audits.

Employee Relations:

  • Provide legal guidance on employment matters.

  • Oversee the resolution of employee-related legal issues.

Legal Training:

  • Provide legal training to employees on relevant legal matters.

  • Ensure awareness of legal standards and best practices.

Government Relations:

  • Manage relationships with government agencies and regulatory bodies.

  • Represent the organization in regulatory matters.

Mergers and Acquisitions:

  • Provide legal counsel on mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions.

  • Conduct due diligence and ensure legal compliance.

Intellectual Property Management:

  • Oversee the protection and management of intellectual property.

  • Ensure compliance with intellectual property laws.

Legal Budget Oversight:

  • Develop and manage the legal department budget.

  • Optimize resources and control costs.

Crisis Management:

  • Provide legal support during crisis situations.

  • Develop crisis management plans to address legal aspects.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Communicate legal updates and advice to executive leadership and relevant stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with other departments to address legal implications.

Training and Development:

  • Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for legal team members.

  • Stay informed about legal advancements and changes.

Ad Hoc Responsibilities:

  • Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned by executive leadership.

  • Support other legal and organizational initiatives as needed.

Job Requirements

Education:•    

  • Juris Doctor (JD) Degree from an accredited law school.

  • Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction.

  • Advanced legal qualifications or certifications are advantageous.

Experience:

  •  Extensive experience in legal practice, with a minimum of 10 years.

  • Proven leadership experience in managing legal teams and overseeing diverse legal matters.

Legal Expertise:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of local, state, and federal laws relevant to the organization's operations.

  • Expertise in contract law, corporate law, employment law, and other relevant legal areas.

Leadership Skills:

  • Strong leadership and management skills.

  • Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a legal team.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

Strategic Thinking:

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align legal strategies with overall business objectives.

  • Experience in developing and implementing legal strategies.

Problem-Solving:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to address complex legal issues and find effective solutions.

Negotiation Skills:

  • Exceptional negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

  • Experience in negotiating and drafting various legal agreements.
