Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintaining, inspecting, and repairing a range of equipment, including diesel engines and electrically chargeable engines under company standards, In addition, after repairs or assembly, operating the forklift and cars to guarantee appropriate operation of mechanical and electrical equipment.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

·         Responsible for enforcing monthly forklift truck inspections through routine preventive and predictive maintenance practices.

·         To select the appropriate course of action and resolve issues, one must be able to interact politely and effectively with coworkers and operators while reviewing data and assessing outcomes.

·         Accurate and timely completion and submission of the necessary reports

·         Visits/Travels to every company site to conduct equipment inspections maintenance and repairs to minimize or completely remove equipment downtime.

·         Determine the necessary electrical and mechanical spare parts, then promptly notify the line manager of them.

·         Maintain track of the maintenance date and operating hours to guarantee that the forklift is available.

·         Equipment and cars need to have regular maintenance performed, including cleaning and lubrication.

·         Carries out fundamental troubleshooting on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.

·         Installs and/or replaces new or reconditioned repair parts and tests equipment for proper operation.

·         Consistently use all mandatory personal and collective protective equipment

·         Report all accidents and incidents

·         Independently operate and maintain machine conditions to sustain and further improve resource quality parameters.

·         Work in a team or independently as required

·         Report on equipment failures/breakdowns/inefficiencies

·         Show ownership of the workplace by initiating improvement activities

·         Promote zero loss thinking

·         Record information to take established and known corrective action.

·         Ensures the collection of data and its accuracy and integrity

·         Execute the basic maintenance tasks according to applicable standards

·         Execute maintenance activities, prioritize work, and organize/mobilize resources to overcome problems in day-to-day operations.

·         Discuss problems and maintenance work with Operations and promote proper machine testing and takeover.

·         Uses TPM basic tools and methods within the area of responsibility and ensures compliance (e.g. CILT, 5S)

·         Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts, etc.) aiming at vehicle functionality and longevity.

·         Schedule future maintenance sessions and advise motorists on good vehicle use.

·         Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks)

·         Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job

·         Keep logs of work and issues

·         Maintain equipment and tools in good condition

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience and Key Skills

• Diploma/ TVET LEVEL IV in Auto Mechanics or related fields.

• Minimum of 2(Two) years of relevant experience, preferably maintenance on forklift and operation is a must. 

Required Differentiating Competencies

• Proven experience as an auto mechanic.

• Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles.

• Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods.
