ABOUT US

We are a group of like-minded individuals driven by a deep-rooted commitment to honoring our parents' remarkable journey from humble beginnings in the countryside of Ethiopia to achieving success in the bustling capital of Addis Ababa. Inspired by their resilience, determination, and unwavering pursuit of education, we have come together with a shared vision: to uplift and empower the next generation of youth in their homeland. Our mission extends beyond completing a construction project; it's about revitalizing a neglected community, providing access to quality education, and creating pathways to a brighter future. Guided by our heritage and fueled by our passion for social impact, we are dedicated to making a lasting difference in the lives of those who call this land, located about 150km south of Addis Ababa, their home.

ABOUT THE ROLE

For the successful implementation of our vision, we have established a foundation - Zebidar Foundation - whose first undertaking would be the completion and operationalization of the boarding school. The Project Manager, who will be the Foundation’s first hire, will have the unique role of executing the Foundation’s vision while building and leading a robust team to carry out various tasks. The position presents a unique opportunity for an experienced strategic thinker to lead a transformative social impact initiative in rural Ethiopia. This role requires a blend of strategic planning, fundraising expertise, and project management skills to oversee the completion of a boarding school construction project, located about 150km south of Addis Ababa and initiated by a local government. Drawing on relevant operational and management/strategy background, the role will combine a blend of activities ranging from coordinating construction activities to fundraising efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Project Manager’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Project Management and Execution:

  • Lead project planning and implementation efforts, ensuring alignment with project goals, timeline, and budget.

  • Coordinate with contractor and other stakeholders to oversee construction activities and ensure quality and timely completion of the project.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks, resolve issues, and adapt plans as necessary to ensure project success.

Strategic Planning and Fundraising:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure necessary funds for project completion.

  • Identify potential donors, sponsors, and funding opportunities, leveraging networks and relationships to maximize fundraising efforts.

  • Collaborate with team members to create compelling proposals and presentations for potential donors, effectively communicating the project's vision and impact.

Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders, including community members, government officials, donors, and partner organizations.

  • Represent the project in meetings, conferences, and events, advocating for project objectives and fostering collaboration and support.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:

  • Establish monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track project progress, outcomes, and impact.

  • Prepare regular progress reports and updates for project sponsors, donors, and stakeholders, highlighting achievements and addressing challenges.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  •  A bachelor’s degree in any field with an excellent academic track record; advanced degree preferred.

  • A minimum of 5 years in any professional field. Additional experience in project management, events activation and coordination, youth engagement, and community service will be advantageous

  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and execute innovative solutions to address challenges.
