Job Description

The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Assistant is responsible for undertaking routing data recording, documentation, management, analysis and reporting of IYA project in Jigjiga and perform monitoring, evaluation and learning activities in collaboration with rest project staffs at the head office, cluster office and city level. Besides, participate in team work activities and contribute his/her part for successful achievement of the project objectives. The MEL assistant is a key role within the city team and works closely with the project staffs and provide evidence based support as needed.  Finally, prepares periodic reports (narrative and quantitative) for stakeholders and donors using standard templates and reports to his/her immediate supervisor and other functional managers at the head quarter and cluster level.

Competency Requirements:

  • Experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning in child and youth related emergency and developmental projects.

  • Good understanding of emergency and development projects context and experience working with different donors, including EU, USAID, UN agencies and others.

  • Experience in data collection, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and handling of electronic data collection tools.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills including positively influencing existing mind-sets, negotiation, and coaching.

Job Requirement

  • Education: B.A/M.A/M.S.C Degree in social science, economics, sociology, statistics, development studies or other related fields

  • Experience: at least 4 years for BA or minimum of 2 years for MA of relevant NGO work experience in developing M&E plans, training staff, capacity building, quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis and reporting, and/or other aspects of M&E in developmental and emergency contexts.

  • Number of Position: one (1)

Terms of employment: One year contract with possibility of extension based on performance and the availability of fund.

Duty station: Dire Dawa
