ORDAETHIOPIA is a non-governmental organization dedicated to improve livelihood and environmental security in Amhara Region as well as in Ethiopia since 1984 G.C. It envisaged to bring the above changes in the community by working on environment and climate change, water and irrigation, agriculture, nutrition and disaster risk management, gender, disability inclusion and youth Employment and food commodity management and emergency response interventions. ORDA Ethiopia is a highly result oriented organization with dedicated management and competent staffs. Job Summary

The Woreda project coordinator coordinates and oversees the implementation and monitoring of Multispectral intervention for the improvement of health, nutritional and livelihood conditions, with particular attention to women, minors and people with disabilities in all program activities in the respective woreda. The project coordinator working closely with the project manager to prepare comprehensive action plans including activities, timeframes and budgets for projects. And also s/he will prepare quarter and annual operational plans of the woreda (activity, budget and purchase plans). Pro-actively works to ensure provision of adequate trainings on the concept of disability and gender. And also strictly follow the availability of important inputs and facilities in the context of those women, minors and people with disabilities; provides regular technical backstopping to government stakeholders and program beneficiaries. Coordinates and leads the day-to-day activity and resource monitoring to check and ensure that the program activities are implemented in a cost effective and timely manner maintaining high quality standards and strategies of the project leading to the achievement of intended outputs and outcomes. Prepares quarterly and annual activity progress reports and submit it to the Head Quarter team timely. S/he is also responsible for documenting lessons and best practices of the project.  

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinates and leads all program activities implementation at the woreda level.

  • Orient the woreda stakeholders and program beneficiaries about the program/project activities implementation modalities/procedures.

  • Closely work with government partners and kebele administrators to ensure fair and transparent beneficiary selection.

  • Establish and maintain smooth and closely r/n ships with relevant stakeholders.

  • Proactively works to ensure provision of adequate trainings on disability and gender.

  • Conducts regular technical backstopping to woreda government staff, OPD and other stakeholders to ensure the implementation of all planned activities. 

  • Aware the woreda government staff and program beneficiaries about safeguarding policy and actively works on the implementation of the safeguarding policy. 

  • Ensure ORDA Ethiopia safeguarding policy is effectively implemented and report any form of abuse to HO safeguarding officer or Executive director,

  • Communicate with ORDA coordination office manager and   Head office Experts about the progress, challenges and solutions made in the implementation of program activities within the woreda. 

  • Attends meetings, workshops and trainings organized by Multi-sectorial intervention for the improvement of health, nutritional and livelihood conditions, with particular attention to women, minors and people with disabilities program Cluster coordinator office. 

  • Organizes woreda level program progress review timely and regularly. 

  • Conducts regular risk assessments in the respective woreda that hinders the implementation of program activities, implementation strategies, assumptions, and objectives, and devises risk management mechanisms or proposes adjustments if needed.

  • Facilitate the documentation of lessons and best practices in the form of case story, success story, etc. Document lessons and best practices.

  • Performs other activities and tasks that are instructed by the internal team (Cluster Project manager and Head Office team.)

  • Coordinate project management activities, resources, equipment and information

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports

  • Monitor monthly/quarterly burn rates and make adjustments when needed.

  • Ensure all the resources of the project are used on cost efficient manner

  • Requests periodic budget from coordination office based on plan

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Good understanding and practical experience in gender and disability and economic empowerment. 

  • Demonstrated coordination and leadership ability in implementing program activities.

  • Excellent communication skill with government stakeholder development partners, VESA groups to establish and strengthen saving culture. 

  • Excellent time management and team work, as you’ll collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver results on deadlines.

  • Advanced computer skills

  • Ability to work in and perform under pressure. 

  • Persuasive report writing in English; competence in local language (afaregna) proficiency beneficial. 

  • Safe belief and ability in ensuring child and youth safeguarding, gender equality, team work, transparent and participatory program management. 

  • Having renewed driving license of motor bike is a must 

  • Proven work experience as a Project Coordinator or similar role

  • Experience in project management, from conception to delivery

  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management

  • Strong client-facing and teamwork skills

Job Grade: XIV

Terms of Employment:  Fixed Term (Two year)

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirement:

  • Qualification /Education: MSc/ MA or BSc /BA Degree in  Social Science, Psychology, Sociology, Gender and Development, Rural Development.

  • Work experience: A minimum of 8 years’ relevant work experience (especially in NGO) for BSc /BA and 6 years for MSc /MA.  

  • Women & Persons with Disabilities applicants are highly encouraged.
