A project planning engineer is responsible for the engineering and technical disciplines needed to complete a project. The project planning engineer works to plan projects, establish project criteria, coordinate project reviews, and ensure the proper implementation of project elements.

Major Role and responsibilities 

•  Understanding project specifications and developing time schedules and budgets that meet them.

•   Monitoring and tracking project progress, and writing up reports.

• Analyzing technical drawings and providing material and cost estimates.

•   Negotiating with vendors and contractors to secure the best prices.

•  Observing existing processes, analyzing staff performance, and addressing deficiencies accordingly.

• Attending and scheduling meetings as required.

•  Delegating tasks and ensuring workers receive feedback.

•  Understanding and meeting all contract requirements.

•  Communicating with managers, supervisors, and the rest of the team.

• Ensuring all projects are completed on time and within budgets.

•  Collaborating with site managers, surveyors, engineers, site worker and other professionals.

• Ensuring procedures are carried out safely.

• Supervising the project at all stages and providing solutions to problems.

• Report about the current work progress and make comparison between plan and actual progress and study impact of alternative.

• Participate in project meetings and discussions with the contractor/consultant/client as required.

Job Requirements

• BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Engineering Management or similar

• 8 years’ experience in a similar role within construction project management environment
