Job Description

The Inclusive Growth Team Leader supports the effectiveness of UNDP's country-level responses by performing country-facing, regional, and global-level functions, addressing national needs and priorities but also advancing cross-thematic, integrated, and systemic policy solutions. 

Duration of Initial Contract: 2 Months

Duties & Responsibilities:

The AUC/UNDP Inclusive Blue Economy Flagship:

  • Undertake background research on specific Blue Economy themes and contexts in Africa,

  • Undertake policy analysis of innovative integrated solutions to address the challenges facing Africa's blue economy.

  • Support, organize and participate in stakeholders’ engagement events.

  • Contribute draft sections for the AUC/UNDP Inclusive Blue Economy Flagship programme. 

SDG Integration and Acceleration:

  • The work will likely entail data collection of SDGs indicators and SDG targets.

  • Undertaking the analysis of synergies and trade-offs within and across countries on SDG ambitions.

  • Engaging and working directly with the Africa Union, the Regional Economic Communities and Countries from time to time.Producing a final report.

Education:

  • Enrolled in a master's degree programme in a recognized, accredited university in the subject areas of economics, public policy, development studies, or a related area

Experience:

  • Work experience not required, but some relevant work experience would be an asset including experience in international development

  • Computer skills: MS Office proficiency

  • Understanding of and previous research on issues related to international development such as the SDGs, and with knowledge of the UN system is an asset.

  • Excellent drafting and editing skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively in small and large multi-cultural teams.

  • Good Graphic Design, Visual Arts and/or Communications skills

Language Requirements:

  • English required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
