Job Description

Association of Pastoralist Community for Change (APCfC) is a local Non-Governmental Organization registered with Oromia Attorney General Bureau (OAGB) in accordance with the Oromia Regional State proclamation for Civil Society Organizations with a certificate No WB/03/0099.

APCfC is currently planning to commence execution of the project entitled Support to Communities affected by the prolonging impact of Drought in Dillo Woreda funded by DCA-Ethiopia in Dillo Woreda of Borena zone with aims to aims to provide cash assistance, promote survivor-led response initiatives, and strengthen Disaster Risk Reduction measures in the targeted area.

APCfC would like to employ an interested and qualified candidate for the vacant position. Therefore, qualified and interested individuals can apply for the following positions. 

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision of Humanitarian Officer, the purpose of Community facilitator is to facilitate planning and implementation of the Project and mobilize the Project target participants in smooth delivery of the project activities in selected kebeles in Dillo Woreda, Borena zone.  

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in and facilitate beneficiary targeting and verification of activities of the project.

  • Raise awareness of the Community and project target participants to engage in support the successful implementation of the project.

  • Feed the Humanitarian Officer with timely information and support timely preparation of report and documentation of project best practices.

  • Conduct awareness raising and sensitize local community on the concept of Survivor centered- response approach and support its implementation.

  • Facilitate and support smooth and timely provision of cash to the program participation.

  • In close collaboration with the Humanitarian Officer undertake Post distribution Monitoring data collection and support compilation of the information.

  • Carrying out other appropriate activities that will contribute to project success, as requested by the Humanitarian Officer.

Required number: One (1)

Duty Station:  Dillo with frequent travel to project target kebeles.

Terms of Employment: Nine months, Full time

Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience Required:

  • Degree/Diploma in Social Sciences, gender studies, sociology, Education, development studies or related fields.

  • At least 3-5 years’ work experience as a Community Mobiliser supporting emergency response and development projects.

  • Additional certification/training Community Mobilization/engagement and cash programming and Survivor centered approaches.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Solid knowledge of Community mobilization and engagement in Emergency and recovery project.

  • Understanding and practical experience in community Mobilization and facilitation and stakeholder’s engagement.

  • Knowledge of culture, norms and belief and geographical areas of the target Woreda is assest.
