Job Description

The Carter Center is a not-for-profit international NGO committed to waging peace, fighting disease and building hope worldwide. The Carter Center country office in Ethiopia, which assists the Government of Ethiopia in Disease Elimination and Eradication Programs is looking for a qualified professional to fill the following vacancy for its Guinea Worm Eradication Program: 

Vacancy No:               VA_020_FY24

Duty Station:              Gambella Town with 50% travel to different districts of the region

Required Number:      1 (one) 

Main responsibilities:    

 ·     Collects price quotations from suppliers when instructed by the Regional Project Manager; Process procurement/purchase of materials as instructed.

·      Checks receipts against jobs, presents to Regional Project Manager for approval and makes payments to vendors.

·       Verifies all vehicle related expenses assigned in the region. 

·       Facilitates timely reporting of accidents to CO logistics team & follows-up claims.

 ·       Compiles and summarizes monthly vehicle logbook activity; Submits report to the CO - Logistic officer and Logistics Manager.

·       Processes and receives medical equipment, supplies, drugs & other items issued to the respective Woredas, Zones or Region.

·       Assists in delivery and receipt of ABATE Chemical, Filters and other medical supplies to the respective offices.

·       Prepares Catalog for all supplies (medical, office equipment, reagents, food items, and office equipment/electronics) needed by GWEP programs.

·       Assists in fleet operations within the organization; Manages and arranges all available vehicles in close consultation with the CO - Logistic Officer.

·       Follows-up and ensures logbooks are available for each and every vehicle.

·       Periodically monitors to ensure that vehicles are deployed in an efficient manner and to verify that fuel is utilized for appropriate activities.

·       Follows-up to ensure all vehicles have their insurance policy and it is up-to-date.

·       Performs other activities as instructed by supervisor.

Job Requirements

Qualification:            

BA Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management or related fields from a recognized university.

Experience:              

Minimum of five years relevant experience in logistics/operation management.

NGO Experience is much preferable.    

Additional Requirements:  

  • Strong analytical skill and able to generate professional reports

  • Valid and renewed 3rd level Driving License 

  • Experience in supply chain and logistics management areas with good field experience

  • Good computer skills, particularly in MS Office packages

  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English

  • Able to present recommendation letter from the most recent employer
