Position Title: Project Clerk (Community Mobilization), Six Positions
Position Grade: G3
Duty Station: Mekelle, Tigray Region, Ethiopia
Type of Appointment: One Year Fixed Term, 12 months with the possibility of extension

Since the inception of IOM in 1951, Movement Operations have been and continue to be a fundamental pillar of the Organization’s work. The organized movement of persons in need of international migration assistance is a primary mandate of the Organization and a cornerstone of IOM’s operations. Movement Operations Units in various IOM Country Offices, coordinated under the Resettlement and Movement Management (RMM) Division in the Department of Mobility Pathways and Inclusion at IOM’s Geneva Headquarters, are responsible for all aspects of travel for migrants and refugees under IOM’s auspices, in accordance with the various framework agreements with resettlement and receiving Governments and partners across the spectrum of the Organization's programmes.
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Officer in Addis Ababa in close coordination with the Head of Sub Office and direct supervision of the Senior Project Associate (Livelihood), the Project Clerk (Community Mobilization) will be responsible for the direct implementation of the daily activities of the target outputs. S/he will live in the community and is responsible for the coordination of meetings and activities among the project beneficiaries, and relevant local administrative bodies as well as reporting the progress of the activities, challenges, and other necessary information to the regional project team. The staff will directly work on the selection of project beneficiaries, provision of the necessary inputs to the beneficiaries and serves as the primary focal for preparation of project progress reports.
1. Provide general/clerical assistance in the implementation of project activities.
2. Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.
3. Assist in monitoring budget and updating budget related information.
4. Support administrative coordination for project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units or external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process, and follow-up on administrative actions.
5. Draft status reports, correspondence, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations, and other forms of documentation.
6. Support the organization of meetings, workshops and training sessions.
7. Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
8. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Educational Qualification
School diploma with three years of relevant experience; or,
Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with one years of relevant professional experience
Experience Required
Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Skill
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office package (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
REQUIRED
For all applicants, fluency in Amharic and English is required (oral and written).
DESIRABLE
Working knowledge of the local language, Tigrigna.
