DAHW Deutsche Lepra- und Tuberkulosehilfe e.V. (in English: German Leprosy and TB Relief Association), founded in 1957, is a non-governmental organization based in Würzburg, Germany currently active in 17 countries globally and operating in the fields of neglected tropical diseases, Tuberculosis, inclusion as well as humanitarian assistance. Our East Africa Regional Office serves as strategic, technical and managerial competence hub.
Job Summary
The Regional Representative leads a very dynamic team in an inspiring working environment and is supervising DAHW´s operations in East Africa (Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Sudan, South Sudan , Yemen & may be other East African countries in the future ). The Regional Representative shapes DAHW's strategy for the region, increases its visibility and ensures its recognition as a leading actor and innovator in the sector and among key stakeholders. This position will contribute to advancing DAHW's objectives in a very diverse and committed region in favor of people affected by poverty-related diseases and disabilities. You will be the link between the headquarter in Germany and the DAHW offices, stakeholders and implementing partners in the region.
Your main responsibilities
Strategic:
Responsible for the development, implementation, and financial sustainability of DAHW strategic objectives in the region and for the quality of the project and program portfolio in the region
Management:
Responsible for the overall management of the structures, programs, and projects in order to ensure effective and efficient processes in the region.
Responsible to ensure that the regional office - as a competence hub – can effectively and efficiently meet regional needs
Responsible for Regional office management, personnel management and financial administration
Visibility:
Responsible for positioning DAHW in the region as a leading organization in its sector of intervention
Finances:
Responsible for the financial planning, monitoring, and reporting of the regional financial portfolio and for transparent and proper execution in adherence with DAHW regulations, local guidelines and donors’ rules and regulations.
Human Resources:
Responsible for the potential, capacity, security, and integrity of the staff in the region to meet the programmatic, operational, and strategic goals of regionalization, decentralization, and localization
Compliance and Safeguarding:
Ensure that compliance and safeguarding policies of DAHW are being implemented and respected
Networking
Promote diversification and sustainability of DAHW programme portfolio through identification of new donor and partnership opportunities
Consolidate partnership between DAHW and Host Government, National and Local and international Organizations.
Based in: Addis Abeba, Ethiopia
Start of contract: Ideally from October 1/2024
Contract duration: 2 years, renewable

Your profile
Higher education (Master level in economics, social sciences, public health back ground or equivalent)Regional work experience in East Africa countries
At least five years of experiences in leading, coordination and management as well strategy formulation and implementation at International NGO or Government level
Demonstrated experiences in networking and in resource mobilization
Very strong program and project management skills
Written and oral command in English, additional language skills (Arabic, French,German ))
Availability to travel regularly in the region and internationally
Patience and negotiation skills, excellent written and oral communication skills
Sensitivity to DAHW's target groups.
