agriculture and agri-enterprise development to end hunger and extreme poverty. The organisation has programmes in 15 countries in sub-Saharan Africa and also implements projects in Brazil and Bangladesh.

Job Purpose
The position holder will be responsible for integration of gender, nutrition, and other cross cutting issues in order to maximize safety, dignity and equality, and minimize social tensions and unintended discrimination or exclusion in all project interventions as well as support mainstreaming of nutrition sensitive agriculture. The PGNAAP officer shall be responsible to ensure that gender, nutrition, and other cross cutting issues such as Protection, Accountability to Affected Populations are properly addressed as cross-cutting theme in all aspects of the R4 project implementation
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Under the supervision of SHA country office gender and nutrition advisor, the incumbent will be responsible for;
Regularly analyzing situations/changes in the project operational context which affect the gender issues and protection risks faced by affected people, and their ability to receive information and provide feedback and comments;
Identifying potential adjustments that the R4 project can make to maximize protection, gender, nutrition, and accountability to affected populations (PGNAAP) outcomes, promote gender equality and transformation, and minimize risks including protection from sexual exploitation and abuse as well as ensure nutrition mainstreaming;
Working closely and collaboratively with the R4 project team and partners to discuss operational and implementation issues, find solutions, make recommendations and/or alert senior management for higher-level
solutions, make recommendations and/or alert senior management for higher-level intervention and/or decision;
Supporting implementation of gender-transformative (FLM) programming including for women’s economic empowerment;
Supporting the capacity of staff, partners, contractors and other affiliated entities to implement PGNAAP in their work, and raise awareness on PGNAAP through marking special days such as International Women’s Day, and national holidays;
Conduct, gender and vulnerability assessment/analysis
Ensure regular consultation with the communities (collecting data on gender, nutrition, AAP and protection), which would support gender, nutrition, AAP and protection analysis.
Works closely with the R4 project staff and partners, to implement and monitor project plans and activities related to PGNAAP and raise any PGNAAP issues/ concern with the project team and partners.
Ensure rollout and compliance with SHA’s and project donor key standard operating procedures.
Providing support for the integration of gender into the R4 project;
Facilitate/organize different training including introducing nutrition sensitive agriculture and cooking demonstration on nutritionally dense food
Supporting effective implementation and dissemination of information and materials such as SBCC to project target beneficiaries, and other stakeholders;
Participate in and develop annual, quarterly, monthly and weekly implementation plans and reports for PGNAAP
Produce education materials (printed IEC materials)
Documenting/reporting PGNAAP activities for ad-hoc/monthly/annual reports
Assist in timely and accurate documentation, publication and dissemination of the business development and financial literacy activities. This includes success stories, lessons learned, etc.
Perform other duties given by her/his supervisor.

Qualifications/Knowledge and Experience
Essential
BSc/BA degree in Rural Development, Development studies, gender studies, human rights, political or social sciences, or other related fields
At least three years relevant working experience in a similar role at a senior level preferably in a conflict zone or a difficult context.
Strong conceptual and practical understanding of gender and protection
support to field programs, and skills in staff and volunteer development, mentoring, and training
Demonstrable understanding of gender and protection work – including when it applies to violence, abuse and harassments within organizations - and ability to implement relevant policies and activities.
Excellent influencing and negotiation skills. The ability to work independently as well work as a team player – supporting staff and volunteers is essential.
Proven analytical skills and strategic thinking, ability to apply professional and ethical standards to data collection and analysis processes.
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Computer literacy, particularly in MS Word and MS Excel
Ability to work independently in a timely and organized manner;
Desirables:
Demonstrate capacity to plan, prioritize and deliver tasks on time to meet goals in a high-pressure environment;
Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary and multi-stakeholder working environments;
Experience working in an NGO setting;
Ability to work and act under pressure
