Job Description

Job summary:

The Finance Manager is a senior position in the Company and will be responsible for managing all aspects related to government liaison, financial accounting and control including consolidation, preparation of financial reporting to market, internal control, cash management. This role will lead, provide guidance, support and assistance to the finance team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform financial management duties including generating financial data, compiling and submitting reports, analyzing industry trends and assessing the financial health of the company.

  • Be a focal person in representing the company (with / without the support of the general manager) in dealing with regulators, tax offices and banks attached to financial issues such as tax refunds, forex movement discussions and any other matters as required.

  • Given the current stage of the company, i.e. transitioning in to production stage and hence generating an income, the FM in collaboration with the rest of the project team is required to lead the consolidation and booking of pre-production costs (Exploration, Civils, Plant, etc.).

  • Oversee the operations and development of the company’s finance department including creating and reviewing policies, budgeting, recruiting, training and conducting regular assessments of financial procedures.

  • Supervise the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual account reconciliations, monitor and enforce compliance with tax and financial reporting standards and assist with cash flow forecasting.

  • Advise colleagues and executive management on decisions related to the company’s finances.

  • Mediate between the organization, employees, government stakeholders on financial issues.

  • Create strategic business plans based on the analysis of the company’s status and financial forecasts.

  • Participate as a strategic business partner on cross functional teams to help drive organization efficiency, effectiveness, and continuous improvement.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline

  • 15+ years of financial experience, preferably from an international environment

  • 5+ years of management experience

  • Strong understanding of Ethiopian tax regulations

  • Strong understanding of Ethiopian bank and FX payment system

  • Strong understanding of Ethiopian import and export rules

  • Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and reporting

  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to IFRS accounting principles.

  • Highly proficiency with accounting software

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • High degree of integrity

  • Fluent in English, written and verbally

  • Proficient with Microsoft suite, Business intelligence tools preferred
