Following a successful consortium lifesaving response (ECHO2.0), the HI has formed a new Consortium with HelpAge International, Rehabilitation and Development Organization, and FEAPD to work in Tigray and Amhara under DG ECHO’s HIP2024.

Under the supervision of the Humanitarian Mine Action Officer, the Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) Assistant is responsible for executing the EORE tasks assigned by the Humanitarian Mine Action Officer and compliance with approved HI safety rules /protocols and the HMA sector’s technical SOPs aimed at Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) activities to conflict, manmade and natural disaster affected people. 

The position holder (Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) Assistant) is expected to community level facilitation of Armed Violence Reduction and Humanitarian Mine Action project activities in close collaboration among project partners, consortium members, local authorities, and community representatives.

Given the emergency nature of the programme and areas of intervention, the position holder will be expected to work outside the normal work hours

Missions/Responsibilities

Project Implementation:

  • Collect contact details of local authorities, leaders, and others responsible in their area of operation; 

  • Make contact with relevant individuals to organize EORE sessions; 

  • Deliver adapted EORE sessions to men, women, children, displaced, returnees, and local communities as needed to motivate safer behavior toward the threat of Explosive Ordnance.  Conduct pre and post-tests with the local authorities;

  • Collect data on EORE sessions including, but not limited to, the number of women, girls, boys, and men, the number of sessions, and pre and post-test scores.

  • Assist EORE Officer in liaising with humanitarian actors, including first responders and volunteers to deliver EORE Safety Briefings;

  • Deliver EORE Safety Briefings to humanitarian actors, including first responders and volunteers;

  • Collect data on EORE Safety Briefings, including, but not limited to, the number of men and women participants and number of sessions.

  • Identify potential networks, groups,      and individuals to be trained as EORE focal points;

  • Deliver Training of Trainers to identified EORE focal points;

  • Collected data on the Training of Trainers for EORE focal points including, but not limited to, the number of men and women and the number of sessions.

Quality M&E and Reporting

  • Participate in regular monitoring, midterm, and final evaluation of the project in consultation with the project manager and project partners and documentation and dissemination of lessons learned and good practices to relevant bodies.

  • Work in close collaboration with the project manager, IHA and HMA Project Officer, and other project teams to monitor the project outcomes and results as per indicated performance indicators and contribute to the documentation of good practices

·       Ensure data are collected in a qualitative and effective way with the consent of the beneficiary and that appropriate tools and formats are filled properly;

Coordination and Representation

·       Ensure a good level of communication and leasing with partners, consortium members, OPDs as well as stakeholders operational in the project area, zonal and regional level working on Persons with Specific Needs (PSN)

·       Contribute to the development of projects related to EORE

The total positions available are two (2) 

Job Requirements

Qualification: Diploma in training, social work, humanitarian assistance, development, or similar from a recognized University with at least 3 years experience in delivering training.

·       At least 1-year experience, ideally working with conflict-affected communities

·       Willingness and ability to work in remote locations.

·       Experience in capacity building of partners in the identification of persons with disabilities and referring them to service providers.

·       Support service provider to the community-based organization as per signed MoU with the service providers.

·       Resilient to stress

·       Knowledge and skill of the local language (Tigrigna) is MUST.
