The Infrastructure Support Specialist is responsible for overseeing and performing the installation, servicing, and repair of equipment/systems including evaluation of existing installations for operational efficiencies and potential business risks, as well as identifying, positioning, selling, and delivering.

Duties & Responsibilities

Data Infrastructure Monitoring:

• Use different monitoring techniques and tools to monitor data infrastructure health. The data infrastructure consists of ETL tools, Databases, and BI tools.

• Use monitoring tools and software to track data infrastructure performance metrics such as query response time, throughput, and resource utilization.

• Monitor data infrastructure performance trends and identify potential bottlenecks or areas for improvement.

• Assist in analysing database logs and performance reports to detect issues.
  Issue Identification:

• Assist in troubleshooting data infrastructure issues, including errors, exceptions, slow queries, and resource contention.

• Learn to perform basic troubleshooting steps and escalate complex issues as needed.

Data Infrastructure Health Checks:

• Perform regular health checks on overall data infrastructure to ensure they are running smoothly.

• Assist in identifying and addressing potential failures or outages.

Alert Management:

• Manage alerts for overall data infrastructure issues such as errors, exceptions, high resource usage, slow queries, and connection problems.

• Document and track incidents and actions taken in a ticketing system.

Collaboration and Support:

• Work closely with the different data tools administrators, suppliers, clients, and other team members to learn best practices in data infrastructure monitoring.

• Provide support for issues and work with other teams to resolve issues that affect the proper functioning of the overall data infrastructure.

• Communicate with stakeholders about related issues and potential impacts.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 to 2 years of experience with database monitoring or internships related to database administration.

Skills & Knowledge

• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools.

• Exposure to performance tuning and query optimization.

• Familiarity with at least one major Database.

• Experience with Windows and Linux OS.

• Basic knowledge of SQL and database concepts.

• Experience with monitoring tools is a plus.

• Strong teamwork skills, problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Good communication in English.

• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
