Job Description

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning Officers (MEAL) are responsible for the conceptualisation, design, implementation and follow-up of the monitoring and evaluation activities of projects, programmes, policies, strategies, institutions or processes, along the relevant programming cycle.

Role and Responsibilities 

  • Work with programs to prepare/develop monitoring and evaluation tools, as needed.

  • Provide support on data quality, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of results of activities undertaken

  • Assist with planning and conducting assessments (baseline, midline and end line) and evaluation studies with program staffs.

  • Assist with study design; sample size and power calculations; and assist programs with data analysis, as needed

  • Prepare tools to assess site level work conducted by programs.

  • Conduct site visits to assess program and to ensure that programs are moving in the right direction and identify bottlenecks and solutions to management, if necessary

  • Support programs to document best practices (case studies, end of project reports etc.)

  • Prepare quarterly, bi-annual and annual reports of the organization

Job Requirements

Qualification:

Educational background

  • Master’s Degree in Project management, Economics, statistics, other related field with 4 years of experience or

  • Bachelor Degree in Economics, statistics, other related field with 6 years of experience.

  •  Experience in NGO working environment and experience in similar work will be an asset.

Competencies and skills 

  • Relevant working experience, including significant and comprehensive experience with design of monitoring and evaluation tools, data management and data analysis

  • Demonstrated skills in the evaluation of projects

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, project and demonstrated skills with statistical packages such as STATA, SPSS, EpiInfo and/or SAS

  • Strong training and facilitation skills to mentor people in M&E.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills particularly the English Language

  • Ability to frequent filed travel
