Senior Driver/Driver mechanics transport their employers to a particular destination safely and on time. They use navigation devices to reach the destination in the shortest time possible, advise on weather and traffic conditions and comply with legal driving regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Checks the vehicle at the start of each working day for the general condition of the vehicle, checks coolants (oil & water), fuel level, tyre condition, etc and drives the vehicle with maximum safety and care, and according to traffic regulations;

·        Makes routine services such as washing, cleaning and greasing, reports any defective parts or malfunctions, keeps and submits reports on fuel consumption, mileage, car use, etc. using a log book or other form provided for the purpose;

·        Meets and assists visitors/staff on arrival and departure as required;

·        Reports accidents to supervisor promptly and complies with traffic regulations and insurance policy;

·        Ensures validity of his/her driving license;

·        Takes responsibility for the safety of the vehicle assigned, tools and accessories;

·        Ensures that the vehicle is kept clean and usable at all times;

·        Makes sure that he/she drives with in the speed limits as per traffic regulations;

·        Makes sure to wear seat belt and always asks and make sure that his/her passengers wear seat belt;

·        Prepares work plan of repair and maintenance of vehicles and motorcycles of the Institution;

·        Receives and evaluates appropriateness of maintenance request;

·        Provides repair and maintenance services to vehicles and motorcycles as per standard operational procedures;

·        Proposes spare-parts and components to be kept in the stock for the maintenance work,

·        Ensures that the quality of spare parts and components purchased for maintenance task are of acceptable quality and specification;

·        Coaches Regional Office and Branch staff on how to discover faults, listen to engines and drive the motorcycles safely,

·        Inspects vehicles and motorcycles and determines their fitness and spare parts required for future maintenance works;

·        Maintains records of cost of repair and maintenance of every vehicle and motor cycle;

·        Records the kind of maintenance work performed, parts replaced and time taken on the work order sheet;

·        Reports general vehicle conditions and repair and maintenance to supervisor;

·        Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirments

A.  EDUCATION/TRAINING

·        10th grade complete and 3rd grade driving license

B.  EXPERIENCE:

·        6 years of relevant experience.

C.  TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS

·        Physical fitness and willingness to work under pressure, possible long working hours and frequent field travel;

·        Basic knowledge of auto mechanic to be able to do small repairs if necessary;

·        Ability to interact and work effectively with others at all levels.

·        Ability to conduct security checks and inspection on vehicles.

·        Ability to keep vehicle log book.

·        Interpersonal skill.
