Job Summary
The Program Accountant at FAWE Ethiopia plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective financial management and accounting of programs and projects. He/She will be responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of program implementation, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing accurate financial reporting with support from the finance officer
Main Duties include the following but not limited to:
• Financial Management: Responsible for managing the financial resources allocated to programs and projects, including budget preparation, expenditure tracking, and forecasting.
• Budgeting: Collaborate with program managers to develop program budgets, monitor spending against budgets, and provide regular budget analysis reports.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for donors, management, and other stakeholders, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
• Grants Management: Manage grants received for programs and projects, ensuring proper utilization of funds, compliance with donor regulations, and timely reporting.
• Accounting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records, including journal entries, ledgers, and reconciliations, in accordance with accounting principles and organizational policies.
• Financial Controls: Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
• Audits: Coordinate with internal and external auditors for program audits, providing necessary documentation and support during audit processes.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with local financial regulations, as well as donor requirements and contractual obligations.
• Capacity Building: Provide financial management training and support to program staff and partners to enhance their understanding of financial procedures and compliance requirements.
• Communication: Maintain effective communication with program staff, management, donors, and other stakeholders regarding financial matters, providing timely updates and responding to inquiries.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement, and provide recommendations for financial decision-making.
• Risk Management: Identify financial risks associated with program implementation and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively.
Education Requirement:
• Masters or BA degree in accounting and finance
• Experience: 4 years for Masters and 6 years for BA degree
