The company has already developed and handed over the fully developed Sheger Apartments, located in the splendid forest hill at Addis Gebeya, Addis Ababa. Currently, the company is developing the Anbessa project, a 35,000 sq. m plot situated in the center of Addis Ababa. Additionally, the company is finalizing the acquisition of a 20,000 sq. m land adjacent to the property, where modern malls and business centers will be built.
With the goal of becoming the largest and most recognized builder of real estate in Ethiopia, the company aims to provide exceptional residential and commercial properties.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor holds a critical role in managing and optimizing project costs throughout the construction lifecycle. With a foundation in civil engineering or construction management and extensive experience, this individual oversees cost estimation, budgeting, procurement, contract administration, and financial analysis. The Senior Quantity Surveyor collaborates closely with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed within budget while maintaining quality standards and adhering to contractual requirements.
1. Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
· Conduct comprehensive cost estimation for construction projects, considering materials, labor, equipment, and overhead expenses.
· Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenditures, forecasting costs, and identifying potential savings opportunities.
· Collaborate with project teams to establish cost-effective strategies and optimize resource allocation.
2. Procurement and Contract Management:
· Lead procurement activities, including sourcing materials, obtaining quotes, negotiating contracts, and selecting subcontractors and vendors.
· Administer contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions, scope of work, and project specifications.
· Manage contract variations, change orders, and claims, mitigating risks and resolving disputes in a timely manner.
3. Financial Analysis and Reporting:
· Analyze project financial performance, comparing actual costs against budgeted amounts and identifying variances and trends.
· Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, forecasts, and cost projections for internal stakeholders and clients.
· Provide insights and recommendations to project teams and management to optimize project profitability and cost efficiency.
4. Quantity Surveying and Measurement:
· Conduct quantity takeoffs and measurements from construction drawings and specifications to estimate material quantities and costs.
· Verify and validate quantities and measurements at various stages of the project to ensure accuracy and minimize discrepancies.
· Utilize industry-standard measurement methods and software tools to support quantity surveying and cost control processes.
5. Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration:
· Liaise with project teams, clients, consultants, and subcontractors to communicate cost-related information, resolve issues, and address inquiries.
· Foster positive working relationships with stakeholders, promoting transparency, trust, and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
· Participate in project meetings, reviews, and presentations to provide cost-related insights and recommendations.
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
· 6 to 8 years of experience in quantity surveying, cost management, or related roles within the construction industry.
· Proficiency in cost estimation, budgeting, procurement, and contract administration processes.
· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify cost-saving opportunities.
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
· Knowledge of construction contracts, standards, and regulations, including familiarity with FIDIC and other industry guidelines.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, cost estimation software, and project management tools.
· Professional certifications such as MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or equivalent are desirable.
