About the Organization

Development for Peace Organization (DPO) is an Ethiopian non-profit organization established in 2020 with a mission of striving to meet the humanitarian and developmental needs of societies regardless of race, color, religion or cultural background. We are legally registered to work in Ethiopia (Reg. 5164) as National NGO and as INGO in South Sudan (Reg. 4178), Somalia (Reg. NGOD/Moifar0422/022) and Kenya (OP.218/051/22-400/12732); it is also processing its registration in Yemen. We are currently seeking an experienced LAF Officer to join our mission-driven organization.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the MEAL Manager the MEAL Officer of DPO is mainly responsible for overseeing the collection and analysis of data related to project activities, developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, conducting assessments, and producing reports to track progress and inform decision-making. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the roll-out of the MEAL Framework in the field by partnering with the regional coordinator including the implementation of a results-oriented monitoring system;

  • Support the RC and project staff in ensuring that MEAL standards are adhered to along the project cycle phases;

  • Support to / facilitate streamlining of the MEAL as per requirements from the project staff;

  • Establish and execute monthly and weekly monitoring work plans;

  • Ensure proper monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual results-based reporting and data collection, and regular collection of information according to the objective (s) and results of the project.

  • Set up & maintain MEAL data base;

  • Develop the capacities of project staff and monitoring and evaluation of the projects according to the MEAL framework;

  • Support evaluations and audit missions by providing relevant information and through coordination;

  • Facilitate and organize the application of MEAL tools and ensure the application of it in the entire program;

  • Supporting the country office project/ program team in designing/developing projects including log frame;

  • Supporting partner organizations in the conduct of baseline/feasibility studies in the project areas and/or being responsible for outsourcing;

  • Leading on the identification of case studies and lessons learned and contributed to the dissemination of those lessons and best practices with partners and other stakeholders, and across the organization;

  • Ensuring donor and requirements on documentation of the projects.

  • Performs any additional activities which may assigned by the MEAL Manager.

Language Requirements

  • Knowledge of English and the working language of the duty station is an asset

Job Requirements

Min. Education

  • BA/BSC or BSC/MSC in Economics, Statistics, Development Studies, Rural development and local studies (RLDS), and other related social science fields

Experiences

  • Minimum 4 years for BA/BSC or 2 years for MA/MSC
