Job Description

Ethio Wetlands and Natural Resources Association (EWNRA) is an Ethiopian Residents Charity Organization, a non-political, non-religious, and not-for-profit LNGO working in areas of Sustainable Natural Resources Management (forests, wetlands and agro-ecosystems) and Development (livelihoods, etc.) 

With funding from NORAD through the Development Fund of Norway (DF); EWNRA is implementing a project entitled REDD+ Participatory Forest Management southwest Ethiopia in the neighboring zones namely Agnwa in Gambela, Iluababora in Oromia, Kafa and Sheka zones in South-West Ethiopia Peoples regional states. At present EWNRA is seeking a competent  professional for the position of Participatory, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PPME) Officer and invites interested candidates to apply for the vacant post.

Summary of Job descriptions

Under the supervision of and accountable to the REDD+ PFM project southwest Ethiopia coordinator, the Participatory, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PPME) Officer is responsible to:

  • Facilitate the participatory planning, monitoring, and Evaluation processes of forestry/natural resources-related projects/programs under implementation in the neighboring zones of the aforementioned regions in southwest Ethiopia

  • Lead the project/program data collection and compilation process regularly to measure achievement against the performance indicators.

  • Check data quality with partners, maintain and administer the M&E database; analyze and aggregate findings

  • Coordinate project progress reporting, project mid-term review, and final evaluation

  • Collaborate with project/program technical teams, community and government stakeholders in the documentation and dissemination of best practices

  • Perform other organizational and project-related tasks that may be required by the technical team leader and/or Coordination Office.

Salary: As per the organization’s scale

Terms of employment: One-year (12 months) contract based on successful performance (with the possibility of extension for additional years)

Work Location (Duty station): Ilu Ababora Zone, Metu town with extensive travel within zones, woredas, and kebeles where the program/projects are under implementation in the three neighboring regions (Gambela, Oromia, and South-west Ethiopia)

Qualifications and Experience

The potential candidate for the post should have an MA/MSc degree from recognized Universities/Colleges in Forestry, Agro-forestry, Natural Resource Economics, Agricultural economics, and related fields. Besides, she/he should have at least five years and above demonstrable work experience in the areas of forest/natural resource-related project/program planning, monitoring and Evaluation, Participatory Forest Management (PFM), REDD+ projects/programs, participatory natural resource management, community-based watershed management, Community Livelihood development, etc. NGO experience is an advantage. 

Additional requirements

  • Competency in computer applications MS offices are required. Other application software such as SPSS, STATA, GIS, etc have additional assets but are not mandatory.

  • Superior command of written and spoken skills in English is mandatory

  • Cooperative, team player, gender-sensitive, and excellent in interpersonal relationships, have strong commitment and open to learning and sharing
