The Foundation has a programme office in Assosa, the regional capital of Ethiopia's Benishangul Gumuz Regional State (BGRS), with plans to expand to the Amhara region. Since its establishment in 2016, the Foundation’s programme office has been working on an integrated livelihood development programmed.

We are a diverse, multicultural, and passionate organization, with over 700 employees in Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, and Somaliland. Our headquarters are in Nairobi, Kenya, and we have a liaison office in London, UK, which is home to our parent organisation, Pharo Management.

Position Summary 

The driver will provide reliable and safe driving services under the daily supervision of the Logistics and Liaison Officer, ensuring high accuracy in their work. The driver should demonstrate a client-oriented approach, a strong sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact, and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Before starting the journey, refuel the vehicle, check oil and lubricant levels, ensure all necessary documents are in the glove box, verify the function of the jack and the condition of the spare wheel, and equip the vehicle with essential tools such as a toolbox, first aid kit, winch control, and flashlight with batteries.

  • Drive the organisation's vehicles safely according to the schedule provided by the Logistics and Liaison Officer.

  • Ensure the safety of passengers and goods, checking and receiving items to be transported, and always ensuring that every passenger wears a seatbelt when traveling in a Foundation vehicle.

  • Provide support to Foundation staff and visitors by transporting materials and people, including loading and unloading as needed.

  • Obey local traffic laws and drive at legally permissible speeds.

  • Do not allow unknown passengers to ride in the vehicle, especially those carrying weapons, dressed in military clothing, or associated with conflicts.

  • Obtain approval from senior management before using the vehicle for personal purposes.

  • Ensure that all occupants of Foundation vehicles are authorised and that everyone fastens their seatbelts before departure.

  • Assist the Financial and Administrative Assistant with making payments (cheques) and issuing receipts.

  • Ensure car seats are clean and comfortable for all passengers.

  • Schedule washing and specific services to keep the car's interior and exterior clean.

  • Transport staff and Pharo visitors between airports and hotels.

  • Pick up office purchases or provide other administrative needs.

  • Be flexible to work on weekends.

  • Maintain and update monthly mileage records.

Location: Assosa, BGRS

Employment Duration: One year with the possibility of an extension

Reporting to: Logistics and Liaison Officer

Job Requirement

Qualification Requirements

  • Completion of secondary education; vocational training of auto mechanics is advantageous.

  • Valid 3rd grade driving license

  • Minimum of 5 years of driving experience

  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair

  • Solid understanding of vehicle maintenance

  • High sense of responsibility, reliability, and good behavior

  • Experience of working in NGO is preferable

  • First aid certificate is desired.

  • Ability to drive a variety of vehicles, including motorcycles, cars, school buses, and trucks.
