CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3: the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in-country programs; or are visiting the country programs; ore because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The warehouse Officer is responsible for ensuring and supporting SCI in property handling of the warehouse and commodity management of food commodities as per donor and SCI guidelines. He/she will also be responsible for receiving and dispatching food commodities to and from the SCI warehouse to Food distribution points and proper tracking and warehouse documentation.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Zonal nutrition coordinator

Duties and responsibilities

  • Work closely with the supply chain coordinator for proper warehouse management such as the physical condition of the warehouse, cleanliness of the warehouse, security, and safety of the warehouses, availability of space for commodity receiving, availability of necessary warehouse equipment, availability of Daily laborers

  • Responsible for receiving food based on the incoming waybill and, food dispatching to the mini-stores/ for distribution based on the approved dispatch waybills, practicing proper commodity handling at the woreda warehouse ( proper stacking, FIFO, using Plastic sheet, proper spacing, Daily inspection, physical inventory and so on)

  • Update warehouse documents such as Ledger and Stack cards right after any commodity transaction and make sure that they are reconciled with the source documents like receipt and dispatch Waybill

  • Keep and file all the necessary warehouse documents ( incoming and outgoing waybills, SRF, loss approval, loss disposal, and so on ) properly and adhere to the pre-determined reporting deadlines to submit all required reports showing woreda commodity transactions

  • In consultation with the program team and supply chain, the incumbent is responsible for the proper handling of damaged commodities, loss handling, and loss reporting within 72 hours.

  • Support daily distribution activities at distribution points, document issues that are not in compliance with guidelines mentioned in SC or Donor policies, and submit a report with a recommendation to NC.

  • Submit weekly and monthly reports timely to the Zonal nutrition coordinator

  • undertake daily supervision of guards and cleaners

  • ensure that the warehouse site is safe and secure and to SCI standards.

  • Ensure all necessary warehouse materials and equipment are available at the woreda warehouse level

  • Conduct physical count at the month-end.

  • Perform other activities assigned by the immediate supervisor

Job Requirement

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Applicants should have a minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Economics

  • Minimum 2 years working experience with NGOs in nutrition programs, WFP, FCM

  •  The ability to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely; and the skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, and organizations are some of the skills required for the position.

  • Strong numeracy and statistical acumen are highly desired.

  • Applicants should have fluency in written and spoken English language and strong computer skills. Knowledge of the local language is important.

  • Applicants should have strong experience and understanding of commodity management and project

  • oversight and skills in financial management, documentation, report writing, and M&E

  • Knowledge and experience in the emergency program, national targeting guidelines

  • A good team player
