Job Description:

The role and responsibilities of medical doctor/ Health officer will be implementation of mobile health and Nutrition services package as per the standard of Ministry heath/ WHO MHNT guidelines including of preventive, curative and promotive health care services.  He/she will be responsible majorly to OPD consultation, outreach EPI, child health, public health promotion, awareness creation, surveillance, case detection, outbreak verification, risk communication, capacity building and technical support. In addition to this, the position holder will also be expected to provide supportive supervision, technical assistance and capacity building to government workers in health facilities of respective woreda in case of additional support required to support the crisis affected people in order to improve community surveillance. S/he will also liaise with local authorities, health and nutrition cluster, represent the team in meetings, and be responsible for all team communications.

Major responsibilities

  • Conduct & undertake consultation & proper treatment for acute and life-threatening illnesses based on the protocol of MHNT

  • Prepare terms of reference (TOR), organize and facilitate training, review meeting and draw best lessons/practice.

  • Conduct & undertake PHC like consultation & provide proper treatment based on the protocol.

  • Ensure all referral cases will be timely transferred to the nearest health facility

  • Conduct planning and promotion of awareness creation preventative and promotive health care services at community level

 Job Requirement

Required Professional Experience

  • Previous work experience at least 3 years in risk identification, outbreak detection, PHEM, OPD consultation, ICCM/IMNCI, maternal health, and supply chain management areas.

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

  • Bachelor's Degree in public health/nursing with minimum of three years relevant experience.

  • certificate on EDks management, PHEM, MHPSS and IPC are an asset

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Experience in the mobile health and nutrition intervention areas of screening, risk communication, OPD/Inpatient consultation, outreach EPI, health education, sanitation, and child health

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement

  • Frequent travel to the project sites and to NO as needed

  • English and local language Effective in written and verbal communication in English, Amharic and the local language is advantageous
