Summary:

The work schedule for this position is:

  • Full Time (40 hours per week)

  • Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties and Responsibilites:

The Incumbent serves as the Investigative Assistant for the Regional Security Office (RSO) located in the RSO Locally Employed (LE) staff office, incumbent primarily supports the extensive Bi-Mission Background Investigation Program. They serve as the first direct point of contact to the RSO office at Bi-Mission Ethiopia for all foreign nationals; answer general security clearance questions for more than 1,500 staff members (including but not limited to State, Centers for Disease Control, Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, and Homeland Security, USAID, and Peace Corps) Contractors and Domestic employees of the Bi-Mission. Manages most of the administrative work of the local RSO office which includes drafting correspondence letters, and taking fingerprints and pictures for more than 400 U.S. Direct hires and EFMs. The incumbent also works as a travel arranger for the RSO section which includes following up all local and international travel requests. The incumbent also creates and scans files into the investigative database RESOLVE, assigns cases to the RSO investigators for investigation, and manages the local RSO SharePoint site.

Requirements:

  • EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two years of Administrative/office work experience is required.

Education Requirements:

  • Education: Completion of secondary education is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level 3 (Good Working Language) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. (These may be tested)

                     Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing, may include the ability to translate Amharic is required (These may be tested)

 (You are required to pass the English Placement Test (EPT) that is conducted by the Human Resources Office).

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and the use of the Internet. Ability to draft and report security facts, concisely, and accurately. Must be able to perform all duties independently, with a minimum of supervision using initiative and resourcefulness. Skill in handling a high volume of security requirements and caseloads, and the ability to work under pressure with changing demands.

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
