I. Job Summary

The water, well driller supports the development and preparation of the WASH programs and will lead the water, well drilling crew, providing overall technical and management support to the program. The incumbent is responsible for the feasibility study, designing, planning, preparing BoQ, implementation, budget management and monitoring of drilling activities.

II. Duties and Responsibilities

• Understand and work for the organization's vision, mission, and values.

• Provide technical advice to the program manager on all water, and well drilling aspects;

• Conduct minor maintenance on the drilling machine

• Properly handling and using all drilling machine equipment, tools, and materials

• Lead and guide water, swell drilling team, and works. 

• Liaise with the program staff, communities, and government bodies. 

• Ability to water well site selection, site preparation, and report writing.

• Manage, implement, and monitor water well drilling projects as per the design, plan, and BoQ;

• Provide technical support to key stakeholders, as needed and appropriate;

• Prepared and submitted monthly, quarterly, biannually, and annual reports to the program office.

• Meet project goals, objectives, outputs, and requirements

• Undertake field visits to monitor projects, as well as conduct periodic project reviews with program staff and take action on operational procedures that affect project management and implementation;

• Provide and organize WASH Co training together with (government expert if needed);

• Represent the organization externally in the project area as required;

• Foster, develop and maintain sound partnership/ relationships with partners, communities and other relevant bodies working with.

• Promote a positive team environment among staff;

• Support the operations and projects teams to ensure the efficient and proper use of funds.

• Conduct feasibility study and prepare project agreements or proposals, project specifications, complete designs, plans, and bills of quantities for water well drilling  activities that to be implemented in Imagine 1 Day project areas or other organizations;

• Regularly conducts on-site supervision visits as necessary to evaluate the progress and quality of the work;

• In collaboration with local government officials, facilitates water well drilling activities and promotes community mobilization;

• Prepare and submit project reports upon completion of each water well.

• Oversee the repair and maintenance of any substandard water well activities.

• Meet deadline to accomplish assigned works on due date and additional activities which is given by WASH program manager.

Job Requirements

Academic Qualification

Diploma and above in electro-mechanical, Construction Technology, construction management, or related field;

• Work Experience

7 to 10 years of relevant work experience (Directly on drilling machines)

• Special Training

Ability to maintain simple repairs on the drilling machine

Other Requirements

We are searching for a reliable, deadline-driven water well driller to oversee drilling activities in all regions where i1day intervention. The water well driller's responsibilities include monitoring the quality of work as per agreed standards and, 

• practical experience in water well drilling works, and surface water development

• Communicates clearly, and can facilitate workshops and meetings in English;

• Has a good communication skill, both written and oral;

• Knowledge of the methodology of program/project management

The person should ensure that projects stay within budget and that required materials and equipment are available.

To be successful as a water well driller, you should demonstrate a sound understanding of safety regulations be able to transfer this knowledge to your team. Leaders should identify problems and find feasible solutions to the projects.
