Job Description
Job Summary:
The ICU Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive and specialized nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit. The ICU Nurse collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to monitor, assess, and manage patients with complex, life-threatening conditions, while ensuring the highest standards of care and patient safety.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including monitoring vital signs, hemodynamic status, neurological function, and other critical parameters.
Administer medications, blood products, and other therapeutic interventions as prescribed, closely monitoring for any adverse reactions or complications.
Operate and monitor advanced medical equipment, such as mechanical ventilators, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, and dialysis machines.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans, adjusting as needed based on the patient's condition.
Provide expert nursing interventions to manage complex medical conditions, including but not limited to, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and renal disorders.
Anticipate, recognize, and promptly respond to changes in patient condition, initiating appropriate emergency measures as necessary.
Effectively communicate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care, provide updates, and address any concerns.
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and responses to care.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and evidence-based practice to enhance patient outcomes.
Maintain proficiency in advanced life support and critical care nursing skills through ongoing education and training.
Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols to ensure a safe patient care environment.
Write records accordingly and timely
Performs other related duties as assigned

The working condition will be Regular or shift as per the department Schedule
Immediate Supervisor: Head, ICU Nurse
Department/ Unit: Nursing Department
Duty Station: Addis Ababa
Minimum Specification Requirement
Educational Qualification and Work Experience
BSc Degree in Nursing
2-3 years of experience in critical care nursing, preferably in an Intensive Care Unit setting.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. (Optional)
Proficiency in the use of advanced medical equipment and technology used in the ICU.
Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with the healthcare team.
Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Good communication and coordination skill
Ability to work under pressure
Have some computer skills.
