Job Description

BBC Media Action:

BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development organisation, and we believe in the power of media and communication for good. We work in more than 20 countries around the world, supporting the independent media essential to democracy and development. Each year our projects and programmes reach over 100 million people facing poverty, inequality and insecurity with information they can trust, helping to improve health, bridge divides, challenge prejudice, and save and change lives. We follow the editorial standards and values of the BBC, but we rely on funding from donors and partners to carry out our work. Established in 1999, BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development organization, harnessing the power of media and communication for good. We support the independent media essential to democracy and development. Last year, our projects and programmes reached more than 118 million people facing poverty, inequality, and insecurity with information they can trust, helping to protect health and our planet, bridge divides, challenge prejudice, and save and change lives. Research and evidence show that our audiences know more, discuss more and are more likely to take action to improve their lives. BBC Media Action has been active in Ethiopia since 2001, as a registered organization with the Agency for Civil Society Organizations (ACSO). Our 5-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ethiopia Media Authority (EMA) allows us to work with local media on health and development issues across the country. We have a multi- disciplinary, gender-balanced team of national and international staff and in-house production infrastructure to provide end-to-end multimedia support as a communication partner.
