Job Description
Women Empowerment-Action (WE-Action) is an indigenous non- political, non- religious, non-profit, humanitarian and development-oriented organization working in Ethiopia to the improvement of the social, economic, and physical well-being of the poor women in particular and the community in general. Currently the organization is operating in four regions SNNPR, Oromia,Tigray and Amhara National Regional States.
Currently, WE-Action is seeking to hire competent, qualified and interested candidate for Female applicants preferable.
Note: - WE-Action has zero tolerance for sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) and any forms of Gender-Based Violence.
Scope of the position
The Program Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the program operation manager at Addis Ababa. She/he will play a coordination and representation role for the WE-Action’s development program in the Northen Ethiopia and Amhara Regions. She/he will work together with field office coordinators, project coordinators, and program quality coordinator and represent the WE-Action on regular coordination meetings to be held in regional levels, IPs, government offices and other relevant stakeholders to ensure WE-Action’s extensive interventions in the target areas are going smooth.
Represent WE-Action in the program area and build healthy relations with stakeholders and project participants/targeted groups.
Support the field office team’s adherence to internal polices and program management standards.
Build capacity of field staffs so as to effectively implement development projects/program activities.
Lead and mobilize efficiently the human, financial and material resources of WE-Action to achieve maximum results of projects/programs in the area under its vision and mission.
Make close follow up of emergency program & financial status including developing program financial plans, monitoring the project budget and ensuring sound projects financial controls are in place.
Represent WE- Action’s interests and program with external stakeholders, in concrete with the respective relevant teams.
Collaborate with the Board and management to develop, refine, implement and monitor WE-Actions’ strategic plan while ensuring that the budget, staff, and priorities are aligned with WE-Actions’ core mission
Conduct origination, business development and new opportunity mapping including expansion into new areas.
In Collaboration with ODM drive organizational structuring as required to follow new priorities, imperatives and strategic direction of WE-Action
Program Designing:
Develop program funding proposal to guarantee uninterrupted delivery of services in respective program area. At least on proposal is expected in each quarter. In addition timely develop donor request proposals.
Design and develop new program components based on the problems that the program intended to address.
Develop quarter and annual project plan with quality and submit for respective funding partners and other stakeholders.
Program Implementation:
Implement projects/programs under coordination within time frame and quality through providing technical support and regularly follow up Project Coordinators and field staffs.
Implement projects/programs under coordination based on the designed implementation strategies.
Identify areas of capacity building of field staffs and come up with proposals to build project implementers capacity for timely and quality project implementations.
Work closely with admin & Finance section and Program offices in planning, budgeting and follow up proper utilization of budget and integration of program and finance plans and reports of project under her/his follow up.
Make a strong and continuous follow up of program implementations by setting weekly, Monthly & quarter action plans.
Assist project coordinators to develop and submit weekly and monthly action plans and updates for effective implementation of Projects.
Contribute to team’s adherence to internal polices and program management standards.
Make close follow up of program & financial status including developing program financial plans, monitoring the project budget and ensuring sound projects financial controls are in place, set project financial priorities accurately to ensure projects under coordination are operating in a manner that support the needs of the targets.
Represent WE- Action’s interests and program with external stakeholders, in concrete with the respective relevant teams.
Timely organize field staff and stakeholders appraisal workshop before implementation of projects.
Ensure proper documentation (in soft and hard copy) of projects under coordination.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Reporting:
Conduct ongoing program monitoring of the status of program and complete regular check –ins on grant requirements and project strategies
In Coordination with PQM facilitate learning across departments and programs including codifying lessons learned and knowledge of resources/tools/best practices, etc
Develop quality quarter and annual project reports of respective area and timely submit for funding partners and other stockholders as appropriate.
Compliance and Performance
Read, understand and strictly respect donors and government compliances and support field office to respect the required compliance.
Strictly follow and adhere to organizational policy and standardization manuals.
Regularly plan, implement and evaluate personal, subordinates and section development plan.
Gender and Social Inclusion and Accountability
Participate and contribute for organization gender and accountability work.
Plan, implement and report gender equality, social inclusions and accountability activities in respective projects/programs.
Work in collaboration with the Gender and Social Inclusion coordinator in designing and implementation of gender capacity building for field staffs.
Accountability and transparency
Ensure that communications and products of WE-Action are visible in project area
Adhere to the organization accountability framework; communicate for employees for effective implementations.
Implement WE- Action compliances to Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) and develop communities’ capacity accordingly.
Participate in external verification process of WE- Action Core Humanitarian Standards.
Conduct routine risk assessments, monitor and report any issues related to Safeguarding.
Create awareness to community, target groups and peers on safeguarding during weekly, monthly, and quarterly dialogue sessions.
Create awareness to community, target groups and peers on WE-Actions compliant Handling Mechanisms during weekly, monthly, and quarterly dialogue sessions.
Participate in organizational conversations to discuss on cross cutting issues such as gender, HIV, safeguarding, social inclusion etc…

Gather feedback and complaints on any concerns of the project implementation and organization and formally document and report back to field offices with a confidential and secure manner.
Salary: As per the organization salary scale

Duration: for one year with the possibility of extension based on the performance and budget availability
Reports to: Program Operation Manager
MA/MSc/BA/BSc in Development Management, Regional and Local Development, Development Studies etc and other relevant Social Sciences fields.
4 years’ work experience for MA/MSc and 6 years work experience for BA/BSc holders
At least 2 year experiences in a program/project management related position in NGOs.
