About Camara Education
Camara Education is an international not for profit organization whose mission is to use technology to improve the quality of education in all communities. Founded in Dublin, Ireland in 2005, Camara Education currently operates four education Hubs in Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Zambia, and Tanzania).
Camara Education Ethiopia is an International NGO that delivers digital education solutions to schools and educational institutions across Ethiopia. We provide computers equipped with curriculum-relevant digital educational resources and software, Digital Learning center setup support, educators training, and follow-up and technical support. We also monitor and evaluate the impact of our interventions on students' learning outcomes and digital skills.
Since 2011, Camara Ethiopia has partnered with the Federal Ministry of Education to improve access to quality education in disadvantaged communities through technology and to support the education sector in line with government strategies and policies. To date we have installed 66,739 computers in 2,960 schools, trained 18,496 educators, impacting upon 2 million learners. By 2024, we will support our 3000th school in Ethiopia.
Position Overview:
Under the general supervision of the Country Director, the Education Manager will support the digital education programmes and projects of Camara Ethiopia. The Education manager will be responsible for developing, planning,, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the progress of the various education interventions across the country. In addition to ensuring that our digital education initiatives meet the highest standards of quality and impact, the education manager will oversee the Camara training team and will hold responsibility for coordinating the successful completion of all training activities including the delivery of the Educational Technology Leadership training for school leaders. The position will require the successful candidate to have the experience and skills necessary to provide clear technical guidance and management support throughout the programming and implementation processes to ensure successful project outcomes and impact.
This position necessitates active involvement in the day-to-day operations of the hub and projects in order to ensure that all project activities are completed on schedule and that the organization's strategic objectives are met.
The role of Education Manager will work in collaboration with the Camara Education Ltd leadership team in Ireland and the UK as well as with teams in Camara’s other African hubs (Kenya, Tanzania, and Zambia).
Support to programme/project development, planning, and execution
Work closely with the Country Director to deliver Camara’s Ethiopia overall strategic plan
Formulate, design, and prepare strong programme/project funding proposals that meet donor-specific requirements.
Create goals, objectives, strategies, and implementation plans for specific Camara programme/project using results-based planning methodology (RBM).
Prepare timely reports for senior management and donors as required.
Ensure the education program activities are implemented as planned and allocated resources including development and review of activity budgets in line with overall project budgets.
Contribute to the creation/updating and implementation of policies, standards, and procedures to ensure that Camara's programmes/projects run as smoothly and efficiently as possible
Training programme
Lead on the planning, coordination and implementation of training across country operations
Regularly review and update training/course materials, and create new content based on project/programme needs and requirements
Ensure that all training programme administrative tasks are carried out as per the Camara curriculum, standard and policy
Provide educational technology leadership training and conduct workshops with local strategic partners to engage in Digital Education topics, as needed
Maintain a system for regularly collecting, analyzing, and documenting data from training sessions, feedback surveys, and pre-post training surveys to evaluate/review our training programme and impact
Engaging with other Camara training staff internationally for best practices on Training
Digital content
Plan and collaborate with the technical and education team to identify relevant digital contents, map, curate and align them to the specific local curriculum
Work across departments to strengthen the system to ensure development and improvement of Camara’s digital learning resources and project delivery in line with best practice and needs of target beneficiaries
Develop an understanding of digital learning techniques, development, and approaches, and, where applicable, participate in the creation and/or delivery of digital learning resources to target beneficiaries
M&E and Learning, reporting and delivery of results
Review, Refine and develop the M&E strategy and framework for Camara Ethiopia to ensure that necessary data and information related to project objectives and deliverables is being collected and analyzed.
Review and develop the necessary M & E tools to ensure timely collection of project data and reporting
Ensure that the quality of the M&E and learning process within Camara Ethiopia is meeting the highest standards and identity areas for capacity development and training within the team.
Ensure that project data and information is appropriately collected for impact analysis, reporting, and evaluation of project activities to be completed and shared with senior management, partners and donors.
Collaborate with the technical and education team to improve our online data gathering tools, platform usage data tracking systems and digital reporting dashboard to ensure timely and accurate data collection.
Identify areas for improvement and make timely decisions and recommendations to resolve issues and/or refer to relevant department for timely resolution
Prepare M&E programme/project reports for review by senior management, government, donors and partners to keep them informed of programme/projects progress
Conduct and document a detailed analysis of general education challenges, specifically the digital education ecosystem, to provide Camara with current data and trends for programme/project development and impact measurement
Identify and document best practices and impact stories, disseminate knowledge gained through Camara channels for knowledge management, and contribute to fund-raising initiatives and programme/project development
Prepare communication and information materials for digital education programme advocacy to promote awareness, strengthen partnerships and support fund raising initiatives
Coordinate donor and stakeholder visits to field sites, as needed
Representation, Coordination and partnership building
Participate in coordination meetings/forums which are relevant to country programme
Represent Camara in sector/cluster coordination meetings, government, UN, NGO, and INGO coordination meetings as required
Contribute to the creation of a positive image and maximum visibility of Camara within the community
Build and sustain effective close working partnerships with relevant government counterparts, stakeholders, partners, donors, and academia through active and effective communication as appropriate.

Duty Station/travel requirements: The position is based in Addis Ababa with frequent travel to project sites across all the regions in Ethiopia

Required Qualification/Experience:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in digital education, Computer Science, Information Technology, Leadership and Management, Education or other relevant field is required. Master’s degree preferred.
A minimum of five years of professional experience within the digital education sector or in a similar position.
Strong understanding of the Ethiopian education system and digital education trends
Solid experience in programme development, proposal writing, training content development and project management.
Knowledge of the UN system or prior work experience in an international non-governmental organization (iNGO) is considered as an asset.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in both written and spoken English is required

Contextual understanding and knowledge of the digital education sector and stakeholders in Ethiopia
Strategic thinking and ability to provide strong leadership to the team
Strong communication, training delivery and presentation skills
Knowledge of digital educational content development (content mapping/curation/alignment)
Advanced computer skills
Google-Suite experience and proficiency in email communication
Detail-oriented and solid analytical skills
Advanced Excel/spreadsheet skills for data analysis and reporting, is required.
The ability to present complex data in a clear and understandable way
Track record of teamwork, ability to handle multiple tasks, flexibility, and timely completion of critical tasks
Be willing to travel to other areas across Ethiopia as required to conduct project activities on a regular basis, and able to travel out of the country if necessary.
