Child Safeguarding:
Level 3: the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; ore because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The purpose of this role is to provide essential support to Save the Children’s emergency programs in Somal, focusing on promoting accountability to beneficiaries to empower communities and obtain feedback on SC UK projects leading to improved quality and impact. The incumbent will work very closely with the MEAL Coordinator as well as all concerned project staff and project beneficiaries in establishing accountability mechanisms.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Health Nutrition Coordinator
Dimensions: Save the Children works in - regions in Ethiopia with a current staff complement of approximately - staff and current expenditure of approximately $90+ million each year

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Job Description
Makes sure that the health staff have adequate training on the management of acute malnutrition per National Nutrition Treatment Guideline, 2019.
Facilitates the training under the project.
Strengthen the Coordination at the woreda level.
Makes sure that the OTP/SC program is implemented according to the National protocol i.e. application of the admission and discharge criteria, closely monitors and strictly follows anthropometry measurement.
Ensures the availability of job aids, reporting formats, therapeutic products, and drugs for program implementation.
Supports and liaises with the health center staff and provides on-the-job training and capacity building where required.
Creates and maintain relationships with local health and other authorities and links CMAM program with the existing health structure smoothly,
Works and liaise with local health workers to integrate the CMAM program from the start,
Coordinates the link of acute malnutrition cases with CBN/CHD/TSFP/PSNP and facilitates regular registration of beneficiaries and submits every month.
Provides a daily/weekly/and monthly overview of drug items, and CMAM materials.
Makes sure that health professionals from the health facilities to participate in the daily routine work for sustainability and smooth phase-out strategy,
Provides technical support and training where required to all team members, and outreach team including health extension workers and community volunteers,
Organizes monthly report of SC/OTP/SFP/Community mobilization and reports on time to the Project Manager and nutrition and provides updates when needed.
Manages the stock levels of therapeutic products, drugs, and all other materials and alerts the logistics promptly as more materials are required.
Coaches and supervises the IYCF officer, OTP, SC program officers, and government staff.
Responsible for effective logistic management
Report any problems promptly to the project manager
Do any other tasks as given by the line manager

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
BSc Degree or Diploma in Nursing or other health-related fields
At least Four years of working experience in the field out of which two years of NGO experience in a related field
Experienced in nutrition and health program implementation –data collection and compilation, working with counterparts for lasting intervention, training of health workers, etc.
Good written and spoken ability in the local language
Extremely flexible, able to work independently, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations.
Interest in and ability to work in a team.
Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability and willingness to work in remote and potentially insecure environments.
Desirable
Awareness of international accountability standards including HAP (Humanitarian Accountability Partnership) and a demonstrated commitment to promoting these standards in ways of working and project implementation.
Experience working with an international NGO in the Somali region.
Experience in social work in local communities.
Experience in effectively communicating findings to internal/external stakeholders.
Experience in child-friendly accountability systems.
Previous experience of working in an emergency context.
