International Clinical Laboratories (ICL) is one of the largest of independent clinical diagnostic centers on the African continent. ICL has opened its door for service in 2004 with the aim of “contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of the quality of life throughout Ethiopia” by encompassing a system of human and physical resources designed to meet the changing healthcare needs of the population it serves.

 It is the only laboratory accredited by the USA-based Joint Commission International (JCI) for five times in a row. The laboratory provides more than 3000 tests in collaboration with its referral laboratories.

ICL would like to fill the following vacant positions under Finance Department We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant with specialized knowledge in the preparation of financial statements and adept management of the general ledger. The ideal candidate will possess advanced expertise in financial reporting standards, meticulous attention to detail, and a proven track record of maintaining accurate financial records. This role requires a strategic thinker who can interpret complex financial data to support decision-making processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Required Skills /Responsibilities

1. Financial Statement Preparation:

   • Lead the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or relevant accounting standards.

   • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary financial data and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements.

   • Perform variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance to management.

2. General Ledger Management:

   • Oversee the general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.

   • Maintain integrity and accuracy of the general ledger by reviewing account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies promptly.

   • Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.

3. Financial Analysis and Reporting:

   • Prepare detailed financial reports and forecasts to support strategic decision-making and budgeting processes.

   • Analyze financial data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.

   • Present financial information to senior management and stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

4. Audit and Compliance:

   • Coordinate and facilitate annual audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations to auditors.

   • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and tax filings.

5. Team Leadership and Development:

   • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

   • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to streamline financial processes and improve overall efficiency.

Qualification and Experience: 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA/ACCA designation preferred.

• Proven experience of 5 years as a Senior Accountant or similar role, with a focus on financial statement preparation and general ledger management.

• In-depth knowledge of GAAP and international financial reporting standards.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
