Job Description

The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) is responsible for licensing and re-licensing Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programs, as well as providing CPD training. We firmly believe in the importance of systematically organizing CPD, linking it to the relicensing system, and delivering it effectively to maintain and enhance professional competence, ensuring quality health services in Ethiopia.

To strengthen our CPD system and expand its successful implementation, EPHA is thrilled to announce a fantastic opportunity to join our organization as a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Coordinator.

Job Purpose / Position Overview

As a Health CPD Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in driving professional development initiatives for healthcare practitioners. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that healthcare professionals possess the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to deliver high-quality healthcare services in accordance with the guidelines established by the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) of Ethiopia. Specifically, your role will involve conducting professional development and training needs assessments, designing and coordinating/facilitating CPD programs for the Association. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Develop work plans outlining the steps necessary to implement professional development and training programs.

  • Collaborate with the FMoH of Ethiopia and internal stakeholders to understand CPD guidelines and requirements for healthcare professionals.

  • Ensure compliance with FMoH guidelines regarding CPD documentation, reporting, and accreditation processes.

  • Identify and assess the learning needs of healthcare professionals through surveys, evaluations, and discussions with relevant stakeholders.

  • Participate in the development and revision of policies, procedures, guidelines, and templates for professional development and training functions.

  • Support the preparation of training materials in advance and arrange training venues.

  • Ensure availability of audio-visual aids and other necessary equipment for training management.

  • Identify areas for professional development to enhance the capacity of members and staff.

  • Assess local capacity in identified areas and make efforts to provide short-term and long-term professional development schemes.

  • Coordinate specific training programs, including inviting participants from regions and collaborating with health institutions to enhance professional development.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of CPD initiatives, collect feedback from participants, and make necessary adjustments to improve program impact and relevance.

  • Review local curricula and propose the adoption of additional curricula to enhance local capability in the public health sector.

  • Prepare and organize educational seminars, conferences, meetings, workshops, and training sessions, ensuring proper documentation.

  • Prepare training reports, conduct program evaluations, and assess the impact of CPD initiatives.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Reports to: Professional Development and Training Directorate 
Salary: Based on the Salary Scale of EPHA
Duration: One year with possible extension of the contract depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funding 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ph.D. in Public Health with pedagogy, training management training, or TOT, or MD degree in Medicine/MA in Health Science/MPH with 2 years of experience, or BSc degree in Public Health/Health Science with 4 years of relevant experience.

  • Proven experience in coordinating Continuing Professional Development programs, preferably in the healthcare sector, and a solid understanding of FMoH guidelines for CPD in Ethiopia.

  • Familiarity with the healthcare landscape in Ethiopia, including the regulatory framework and accreditation processes.

  • Excellent knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and evaluation techniques.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and compliance in CPD documentation and reporting.

  • Proficiency in using technology and online platforms for CPD delivery and administration.
