Job Description

I.Specific Role and Responsibilities

  1. Leading the branch schooling programs 

  2. Build and demonstrate a shared vision and mission of FIS among the team.

  3. Directs the development of systems, standards and guidelines to address, improve and maintain teaching quality. 

  4. Provides overall guidance and monitors the branch programs engaging the management staff of the branches.

  5. Develops, maintains and monitors strong communication systems to ensure that all input on teaching quality is captured for improvement purposes and improvements are made to ensure sustained quality.

  6. Ensures the development of a database on all teaching quality issues and their resolution. 

  7. Fosters professional, ethical learning communities, builds a collaborative learning environment focused on improved student achievement

  8. Establishes a supportive, learning environment in which all students are meaningfully engaged in authentic learning

  9. Engages families and communities in supporting student achievement.

  10. Creates conditions for individual, team and whole-school accountability to improve student achievement and success

  11.  Provide weekly/monthly/quarterly /annual report on same to immediate supervisor.

II. On boarding of teachers

  1. Plan and engage onboarding programs for teachers; and other staff with HR team.

  2. Involve in disciplinary issue of the branch staff in consultation with HR team.

  3. Ensures that new teachers are evaluated on regular basis during the onboarding process. 

  4. Plan for efficient use of human resource and report the vacant position and requirements.

III. Training, Coaching & Development

       1-Provide proper induction training for the new teacher to familiarize with school curriculum and teaching norms.

       2-Facilitate the training need requirement for low performing teacher and engage in coaching activity to full fill the gap.

       3-Advice the appropriate training needed to fill the gap of teachers individually or as a team.

       4-Provide the necessary orientation and guide to subordinates for efficient and proper guidance and leading of the students especially during start up and for new students.

      5-Mentoring Vice principals and Heads of Department in areas of curriculum development and leadership attributes.

      6-Advice HR and training and development on the identified need of skill or Behavioral gap of the school community.

IV. Lesson Planning 

  1. Directs the development of standards and guidelines for setting and /or revising the existing lesson plan preparation and development based on curriculum requirement.

  2. Ensures that annual lesson plans are collected at the beginning of the school year (Syllabus, Curriculum, and workbook) from the respective vice principals as input into developing standard formats for weekly & annual lesson plan formulation. 

  3. Develop school calendar and action plan with other branch principals.

  4. Ascertains the required resources for annual and weekly lesson plan development are identified.

  5. Ensures that that the principals have conducted discussions with teachers on lesson plan implementation strategies and advice methodologies and resources that enhance the subject delivery. 

  6. Monitors the development of resources to support learning differentiation. 

  7. Evaluates annual and term lesson plans development as per the standard and guidelines. 

  8. Identifies issues concerning Lesson Planning and resolves same through process improvement continuously. 

  9. Involve in any academic interventions or improvement actions under your supervision with your initiatives or direction of your immediate supervisor. 

  10. Gets feedback from customers and other stakeholders on effectiveness the program for future improvement. 

V. Parent communication

  1. Develops and maintains an effective communication system with parents including but not limited to conferences, meetings etc. 

  2. Implements the communication system and ensures effectiveness on a continued basis.

  3. Captures concerns and addresses same on a one to one as well as from a systemic perspective. 

  4. Keeps record of all parent /student-related issues to monitor nature of issues and effectiveness of resolutions. 

  5. Motivates and works with all stakeholders to create a positive and collaborative school culture 

  6. Perform any issues related to the branch school.

VI. Resources Requirement 

  1. Monitors timely preparation of teaching material requisition and submission schedule and communicates same to concerned leaders. 

  2. Ensures teachers have submitted teaching material requisition on time per the schedule. 

  3. Monitors and closely follows up that the vice principals have provided resources and timely distribution to the respective teachers. 

  4. Provide all the necessary input to Director of study for next budget year financial and physical plan.

  5. Identify comments on continuous improvement plan requirements especially during planning time.

  6. Ensure that facilities are properly functioning 

VII. Performance Evaluation

  1. Oversees plan on the continued evaluation of teachers with the concerned sections.

  2. Monitors and ensures observations and assessments in all key activities and functions of teachers per the plan.

  3. Manages and ensures performance evaluations are per the standard and KPI set.

  4. Discusses with the concerned sections on evaluation results and finalizes per policy.

  5. Completes and submits Termly and yearly staff evaluation per Policy.

  6. In consultation with the concerned, sets systems, standards and guidelines for the effective evaluation of students. 

  7. Ensures the implementation and effectiveness of the evaluation system. 

  8. Based on gaps observed, makes the necessary process changes as well as other interventions. 

VIII.  Attendance & discipline 

  1. Monitors and cross-checks teacher’s attendance and leave plans with the vice principals 

  2. Closely follows up the assignment of teacher and ensures gaps are addressed.

  3. Attend the regular and scheduled meetings with senior management and principal with due preparation on the agenda points to contribute from your side.

  4. Control the attendance and leaves of general staff with use of site HR officers. 

  5. Take proper disciplinary measures according to FIS collective bargaining agreement and school code of conducts. 

  6. Involve in any activities concerning the branch school issues.

Job Requirements

Master's degree or higher preferred. Must possess a minimum of 10 years of experience as a principal or related academic role. More than 5  years of experience in a similar job in a well known  international  school setting.
