Background
The WIDU project provides grants in connection with existing flows of money from private individuals within the African diaspora in Germany, France, Austria, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, and Sweden. The project thus redirects these flows of money into long-term investments in the businesses of relatives or friends in one of six African countries (Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Togo, Tunisia).
The central tool for the project is the online platform WIDU.africa. The platform allows members of the African diaspora in seven European countries, together with friends and relatives living in Ethiopia as well as five other African countries, to apply for funding for their businesses and business ideas. The focus is on small and micro businesses in the informal economy in any industry. Alongside a grant, the entrepreneurs are also accompanied by a business coach throughout the implementation period.
(Digital) Communication
Content creation: Assist in creating, editing, and publishing social media posts and informative content for entrepreneurs and diaspora members in close collaboration with both internal and external communication teams and agencies.
Platform moderation: Support in moderating processes on the WIDU platform, ensuring compliance with guidelines and providing assistance to users.
Email support: Provide email support to entrepreneurs, addressing inquiries and offering guidance on using the WIDU.Africa platform.
Training and support: Provide training to entrepreneurs on using the WIDU platform and promoting best practices.
Event support: Provide support for WIDU events, incl. preparing materials and managing logistics.
Digital tools implementation: Assist in developing and implementing simple digital tools to support project management processes of the project as well as of the coaches.
Project Support
Project management: Assist in managing communication and knowledge management processes of the project, ensuring timely completion.
Support to WIDU entrepreneurs: Support in reviewing and selecting project applications, ensuring alignment with given criteria. Provide 1-on-1 support to entrepreneurs, offering guidance and assistance throughout the project cycle.
Planning and coordination of project visits: Identify WIDU businesses to be visited, plan and implement the visits together with other team members.
Knowledge management: Support the development and maintenance of knowledge management systems to capture, organize, and disseminate information effectively within the project.
Support to project manager: Support the project manager by providing PowerPoint presentations and short reports on an ad hoc basis.
Required qualifications, competencies, and experience.
Education: bachelor’s degree in communications, Digital Marketing, Digital Media, Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, or in another relevant field.
Language: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic.
Professional Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in the field of communications, digitalization, or entrepreneurship roles.
Advanced familiarity with digital tools as well as digital platforms incl. Microsoft 360 and social media management tools.
Demonstrated ability to write short reports and produce effective PowerPoint presentations.
Proficiency in conducting research, analyzing data, and generating insights related to diaspora communities, their contributions, and their potential impact on various sectors.
Experience in project management is beneficial.

Soft skills: Attention to detail, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and capability to perform precise work with a high level of accuracy.
Knowledge: Basic knowledge and interest in entrepreneurship and the private sector.
Digital competencies: Strong digital proficiency is essential as the candidate will rely heavily on digital tools for effective communication, presentations, and collaborative work daily.
