Julphar Pharmaceuticals PLC is a joint venture between Gulf Pharmaceuticals Industries (Julphar) U.A.E and MEDTECH Ethiopia, which is involved in the manufacturing of LIFE SAVING Drugs for the local Ethiopian market use as well as for export. Job Summary/Main Purpose:

Finance Manager is Responsible to ensure that the company's assets are utilized in accordance with company policy, procedures and programs; authorizes payment within authority limits; follow up the account closing & preparation financial statements and reports.

Main Responsibilities:

Under the general direction of the Country Manager, plans, organizes, directs and controls all functions related to financing, accounting, budgeting, use of funds and insurance matters:

  • Plans, organizes, directs and controls all functions related to finance department activity requiring budget and financial report preparation and other day to day activity.

  • Prepares short, medium and long-term corporate financial plans and also coordinate on the preparation of annual capital and operating budget.

  • Supervises and controls the operation of the company's accounts; exercises control on the maintenance of proper books of accounts, taxation and inventory.

  • Follow up & Ensures that periodical financial statements and reports are prepared and annual accounts are closed properly on time.

  • Follow up, Ensures and arranges for adequate insurance coverage for the property of the company.

  • Authorizes payment, subject to limits of authority, and countersigns checks.

  • Ensure finance department adherence to government rules & account principles (IFRS).

  • Formulates and develops financial policies and procedures; directs the planning, installing and maintaining of proper accounting, budgeting and financial control systems.

  • Arranges for and submits the company's accounts to regular and on the spot audit as directed by management; responds to queries and audit reports by internal and external auditors.

  • Directs, monitors and controls the orderly clearance of payables and receivables; secures management's approval for the write-off of unclaimed liabilities and bad debts. 

  • In conjunction with concerned departments and units, develops proposals to dispose by auction equipment and materials with no book value or which are obsolete or unusable.

  • Provide financial reports and interpret financial information to managerial staff while recommending further courses of action.

  • Advise on investment activities and provide strategies that the company should take

  • Analyze costs, pricing, variable contributions, sales results and the company’s actual performance compared to the business plans.

  • Manage the preparation of the company’s budget.

  • Liaise with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained.

  • Perform all additional manufacturing works as instructed by the country manager.

Job Requirements

Qualification

  • MA/BA in Accounting or finance & 8/10 years relevant experience, out of which 4 years’ experience in senior job position

Skills required: 

  • Good interpersonal skill 

  •  Good communication skills

  • A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines

  • Self-sufficient, motivated, honest, confident team player 

  • Proactive and commitment for outcome

  • Basic knowledge of computer and Peachtree 

  • Basic knowledge of IFRS
