Menschen für Menschen Foundation Project Coordinator Office (PCO) wishes to invite applicants with the following qualifications and experiences.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Sets up & operates portable drilling rig machine.

• Extends stabilizing jackscrews to support level drill rig.

• Moves levers to control power-driven winch that raises extends telescoping derrick.

• Bolts trusses to derrick machine frame.

• Assembles drilling tools using hand tools or power tools.

• Pours water into well or pumps water or slush into well to cool drill bit remove drillings.

• Listens to sounds of drilling machine feels cable or brake to define changes in rock formations being penetrated or variations in drilling process.

• Replaces drill bit with tool to collect samples of earth or rock being penetrated.

• Records drilling progress, geological data, loggings and other necessary drilling samples.

• Splices worn or broken cable and repair drill bits, using shining machine

• Retrieves lost equipment from bore holes.

• Conducts all drilling works, well development and pump testing task.

• Reports the necessary drilling materials needed

• Responsible for coordinating drilling crew under his supervision.

Duty station:  Based in Addis Ababa and travel with drilling rig to drilling site 

Language: A good command of spoken & written English 

Salary: Negotiable

Terms of Employment: Yearly renewable contract

Job Requirements

Qualifications:      

• Diploma/Certificate in Drilling and 4th grade driving license is an advantage (additional training in drilling is a plus).

Work Experience:  

• 10 years of experience in drilling, experience on DTH & Mud drilling, a very good experience on Massenza model of rigs and good welding experience is required.
