Job Description
Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) is a legally registered, autonomous, and not-for-profit professional association established in 1992 and re-registered under the new civil society proclamation. Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) operates in all regions of Ethiopia by using and works for the quality of midwifery education and care. EMwA has been a member of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) since 1993.
The primary goal of EMwA is to contribute towards the reduction of maternal and child mortality and morbidity in Ethiopia, which are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) global initiatives. The vision of the association is to see every woman, newborn, and their family have access to standard midwifery care. The mission of the association is to promote and enhance the expansion, performance and status of midwifery profession through adapting quality and evidence based practices; adhering to the code of ethics and conduct empowering the professionals.
The Training Officer is the training program administrator responsible for all program development, ensuring consistent delivery of department training programs. The Training Officer will monitor and evaluate the competency of all department members both individually and as a team. Report to CPD.
Liaising with existing staff to clarify job descriptions and related expectations.
Consistently promote a professional image EMwA all times;
Attend and interact positively and effectively in meetings, and when assigned, meetings with other agencies and the public
Consistently demonstrate positive, effective communication skills
Board, , employees and volunteers, other public and private individuals and agencies, and the community, including constructive dissenting opinion;
Monitor, evaluate and make recommendations regarding equipment, apparatus, and operations;
Work in a safe manner, maintain a professional appearance, and positively represent all times.
Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of EMwA consistently and appropriately rules
Ensure that expenditures stay within the annual budget approved by the Board; 8.
Assist the ED and DED in developing proposed annual budgets for consideration by the Board
Perform other duties and/or tasks as may be assigned by the EDE and ED from time to time.
Studying and contributing to the operations and climate.
Drafting instructional manuals, onboarding materials, and other relevant documentation.
Administering regular, detailed needs assessments to identify skills deficits.
Orienting new hires to their function within the grand scheme, as well as established company norms.
Addressing skills deficits through tailored in-house training.
Coordinating external training as the need arises.
Monitoring staffs' performance by liaising with line managers and department heads.
Availing yourself as a sounding board for all employees with the explicit aim of improving their orientation and training.
Upholding confidentiality, unless legally mandated to do otherwise

MSc/BSc/ Diploma in Midwifery and related fields with Midwifery background
Minimum of 0/3/5 year professional experience in computer-aided design, commercial art and printing.
Training facilitation experience
Training course development experience
Facilitation skill training
ToT training on one of the following ( PPFP, BEmONC, HMS /HBS, FP, CAC)
Online and Blended course design, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Quark Express, and typography will be an asset
Demonstrate commitment to the vision, mission, core values and goals of EMwA.

Self-motivated and highly organized, detail oriented
Flexible and able to work well under pressure.
Exhibit a desire to support a large number of people

Fluency in spoken and written English and Amharic
Experience in I/NGO environment is advantageous.
Knowledge of basic computer skills is an asset.
