Job Description
Raw Material Quality Specialist is responsible to make sure the quality of incoming Raw material, Packaging materials, Chemicals and Auxiliary materials are as per the company standard before reception; Handling complaints and Supplier Audits. He/She also responsible to follow-up and manage the storage condition/handling, FIFO and Shelf life of those items in the company warehouses.
Prepare SOPs and recording formats for the reception and handling of Raw material, Packaging materials, Chemicals and Auxiliary materials that align with Ethiopian National standards.
Develop and maintain incoming materials quality checking system
Perform incoming material lab tests and prepare reports.
Confirming that incoming materials achieve the company requirements and specifications.
Managing storage condition of Raw material, Packaging materials, Chemicals and Auxiliary materials in the warehouse using proper labeling and segregation of items batch-wise.
Review certificate of compliance COC/COA/MSDS for all incoming items.
Ensuring raw materials, packaging material and ingredients have no effect on the Health and Safety, Food safety and environment.
Performing trials to check the packaging for suitability and testing for performance under various conditions.
Coordinate with Supply chain team to Evaluate, select, and negotiating with suppliers.
Identifying and choosing products from suppliers based on the Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements.
Coordinate and work with quality control team for the physical, chemical, and biological testing and inspection of the product and/or packaging and ingredients up on changes.
Receive and properly record the complaint detail related to Raw material, Packaging Material, Chemicals and Auxiliary materials.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and discuss it with relevant parties to find a solution for the problem.
Prepare a corrective action plan and corrective action for the problem.
Educational Background: MSC/BSC in Chemistry/ chemical engineering/ Food science/Food Engineering or related fields
Work experience: 4/6 years of relevant experience in Brewery industry
Additional Competencies:
Having a mindset of achieving excellence.
Experience of FSMS, QMS, EMS is Preferable
Management level experience in a production brewery or food production facility with firsthand experience in developing new processes and managing culture
A strong understanding of quality and raw material laboratory equipment handling
A strong work ethic and hands-on approach
A strong problem-solving skill and teamwork.
Familiar with ERP/SAP systems.
