Chemonics International, Inc., is a US-based international development consulting company, operating in over 95 countries, that is implementing the USAID-funded Urban Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) project in Ethiopia.
Chemonics seeks an Office Cleaner for the USAID Urban Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Activity. The purpose of this Activity will be to support accelerated access to safe, adequate, inclusive, and resilient WASH services targeting urban and peri-urban areas. The Activity will work to achieve this through four complementary objectives: 1) Enable and professionalize WASH service providers; 2) Foster markets for pro-poor and inclusive WASH services; 3) Strengthen WASH planning, budgeting, and service delivery oversight; and 4) Strengthen accountability among urban WASH sector actors.
Purpose
Chemonics seeks an Admin Assistant and receptionist for the USAID Urban Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Activity. The Admin Assistant and Receptionist will be responsible for managing the front desk, greeting visitors, handling incoming calls, and performing various administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the office. This role requires excellent communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and the ability to multitask effectively. This position will report to the HR and Admin Manager and be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Reception Duties:
Greet and welcome visitors as soon as they arrive at the office.
Direct visitors to the appropriate person and office.
Answer, screen, and forward incoming phone calls.
Ensure the reception area is tidy and presentable, with all necessary stationery and materials (e.g., pens, forms, and brochures).
Administrative Support:
Provide general administrative and clerical support including mailing, scanning, faxing, and copying.
Maintain office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk.
Order front office supplies, and sanitation materials and keep an inventory of stock.
Update COP appointment calendars and schedule meetings/appointments.
Facilitate in-town transportation
Handling petty cash
Correspondence and Communication:
Handle incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
Manage and maintain contact lists.
Meeting and Event Coordination:
Assist in organizing events, meetings, and conferences in collaboration with the Program Assistant
Prepare meeting rooms, including setting up equipment and materials.
Office Management:
Maintain a clean and organized office environment.
Coordinate repairs to office equipment.
Assist in managing office facilities and liaise with facility management services.
Supervise Office cleaners.
Customer Service:
Provide basic and accurate information in person and via phone/email.
professionally handled guest inquiries and complaints.
Other Duties:
Support other team members with administrative tasks as needed.
Undertake special projects and additional responsibilities as required.

Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, supply chain management or related fields required.
Skills and Experience:
At least 2+ years of experience,
Proven work experience as a Receptionist, Front Office Representative, or similar role.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g., fax machines and printers).
Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills
Fluency in Amharic preferred.
Good communication skills in English are advantageous.
