Duty Station: Goro and Dawekachen woredas
ROLE PURPOSE:
The primary role of the Therapeutic Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) Officer is to oversee the implementation of TSFP activities at the community and health facility levels. The TSFP Officer ensures the effective delivery of nutritional support services to children and pregnant/lactating women suffering from moderate acute malnutrition (MAM). This includes planning, coordinating, and monitoring TSFP activities to ensure they meet the program objectives and adhere to Save the Children and WFP standards. The TSFP Officer is responsible for providing technical support and guidance to field staff, health workers, and community volunteers, ensuring the quality and effectiveness of TSFP interventions. This role also involves working closely with local government authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and support for the program. The TSFP Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring that the TSFP reaches the most vulnerable populations and contributes to improving their nutritional status and overall health.
Activity Overview
The TSFP Officer will be responsible for the overall implementation and monitoring of the Therapeutic Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) in designated Woreda. The role involves ensuring the effective delivery of nutrition interventions to malnourished children and pregnant/lactating women, managing field staff, liaising with local health authorities, and maintaining high-quality program standards in line with Save the Children and WFP guidelines.
Program Implementation and Management:
Lead the implementation of the TSFP activities in accordance with the program plans and guidelines.
Ensure that the TSFP Centers are functional, well-organized, and stocked with necessary supplies. - Supervise the distribution of supplementary food rations to targeted beneficiaries.
Ensure the accurate and timely collection, analysis, and reporting of program data.
Coordinate with local health authorities and community leaders to facilitate program activities.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Conduct regular field visits to monitor program activities and provide technical support to field staff.
Implement and maintain monitoring systems to ensure high-quality program delivery.
Ensure data quality and timely reporting through standardized monitoring tools.
Participate in periodic program reviews and evaluations.
Capacity Building:
Train and mentor field staff on TSFP implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
Conduct community sensitization sessions to raise awareness about malnutrition and the importance of TSFP.
Provide ongoing support and capacity building to health workers and community volunteers.
Coordination and Collaboration:
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with local health authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
Represent Save the Children and WFP in local coordination meetings and forums.
Ensure proper coordination with other health and nutrition programs to maximize program impact.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare and submit regular program reports to the TSFP Program Manager and relevant stakeholders.
Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories from the field.
Maintain comprehensive records and documentation of all program activities and outcomes.
Additional job responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.
Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in implementing nutrition programs, preferably in an emergency or development context.
Strong knowledge of nutrition principles and practices.
Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Proficiency in using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
LANGUAGE:
Fluency in Local Language, Amharic, and English, both written and spoken.
OTHER SKILLS:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure.

Additional Note
Hardship allowance will be paid 50% of the basic salary for Female staff and 40% of basic salary for Male staff.
