Job Description

Under the strategic management of the MSIE MCH Specialty Centre Manager, the Obstetrician/Gynecologist ensures efficient delivery of client/patient care; performs ANC, delivery, PNC, permanent family planning, cesarean section, and other procedures per accepted standard medical practices and professional code of conduct; works efficiently to increase client satisfaction and builds the reputation of MSIE clinical services; ensure quality, ensure sustainability and financial feasibility of MSIE clinical services

Key Duties and Tasks:

  • Patient Care:

    • Conduct routine examinations and consultations for gynecological and obstetric patients.

    • Provide prenatal, antenatal, and postnatal care to expectant mothers.

    • Diagnose and treat reproductive health issues, including infections, infertility, and menstrual problems.

    • Perform and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging.

    • Conduct and assist in childbirth, including caesarean sections and other surgical procedures as necessary.

  • Surgical Duties:

    • Perform gynecological surgeries, including hysterectomies, myomectomies, and laparoscopies.

    • Handle emergency cases such as ectopic pregnancies and severe obstetric complications.

  • Counseling and Education:

    • Provide counseling on family planning, contraception, and reproductive health.

    • Educate patients on prenatal health, nutrition, and childbirth preparation.

    • Support patients with high-risk pregnancies and guide them through complex medical decisions.

  • Documentation and administration:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.

    • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of protocols and policies of MSIE.

    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

  • Continuous Professional Development:

    • Stay updated with the latest advancements in gynecology and obstetrics.

    • Attend relevant workshops, seminars, and conferences.

    • Engage in research activities and contribute to medical literature.

  • Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the MCH center such as incident reporting, conducting competency assessment, clinical record audit, conducting coaching or mentorship to other health care providers including sessional providers and providing clinical update sessions.

    • Ensures implementation of action plans recommended by FDA, after clinical incident investigation and QTA (Quality Technical Assistance visits).

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.

  • Residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

  • Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

  • Valid medical license to practice in the respective region/country.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology.

  • Proven track record of managing high-risk pregnancies and performing complex gynecological surgeries.

  • Experience in patient counseling and education.

Skills:

  • Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills.

  • Proficient in surgical techniques related to gynecology and obstetrics.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to handle stressful situations and emergencies with composure.

  • Empathetic and compassionate approach to patient care.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position, with potential for night shifts and on-call duties.
