Job Purpose:

Under close supervision, the person acts as a liaison between growers and the LOC, working directly with tobacco farmers to coordinate, raise awareness, and motivate them for better leaf production. They ensure the implementation of various improvement plans and aim to achieve the production volume and quality targets for tobacco leaves at the assigned site.

Main Responsibilities:

• Conducts awareness and motivational activities with farmers, registers those willing to engage in tobacco production, and ensures planned hectarage and production targets are met.

• Works closely with farmers to establish a respectful extension system, ensuring they accept and apply agronomic advice.

• Coordinates and advises farmers on correct agricultural practices, demonstrating techniques when necessary, and ensures the implementation of improvement plans.

• Distributes necessary inputs like seedlings and fertilizers to farmers.

• Organizes the purchasing program, ensures proper leaf grading and handling, and confirms correct loading by farmers.

• Advises growers on ALP issues, performs observations and recordings, and maintains accurate records.

• Reports abnormalities like diseases and pest outbreaks support proper CPA application and submit organized reports to the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Who are we looking for?

• BSc Degree or College Diploma in Plant Science, Horticulture, Crop production or Agricultural extension.

• 2 years of experience for college diploma holders or 0 years of experience for BSc holders in agriculture or agricultural extension.

Location: All three vacancies are in northern Ethiopia, with two positions available in Jeweha and one position in Ataye.
